I actually read that post before, back when it was spoilers! I just didn't have anything to say about it at that point. It was very interesting to go back and read it now, having seen the film. (Plus, more comments!) I've read a couple of short stories about Sherlock Holmes, and did a bit of research about the fanbase back when I wrote my master's essay, but he never really stuck. I'm a Christie gal. :-)

Especially Watson, OMG. Jude Law was just utterly perfect and true. My new favorite Watson ever.

Jude Law is one of those actors whom I've always admired on a technical level but never felt physically attracted to, but OMG WATSON. I WANT TO TAKE HIM HOME AND PARTICIPATE IN CARNAL PLEASURES WITH HIM. Though, y'know, foursome sounds good too. (I can't decide whether I like Rachel McAdams because of her or because she looks exactly like Jeri Ryan, but it doesn't really matter.)

Best. Holmes. Ever. Best. Watson. Ever. Best. Holmes/Watson. Ever.

And were we in the same film theatre again? I just saw the 18.10 show...

Oh, and House/Wilson is Holmes/Watson in so obvious a way that they aren't even trying to hide it. House even lives at no. 221B.

I was in Malmö, though, so possibly not.

A friend of mine emailed me today saying, "Hey, maybe we could see SH together" and I had to reply that unfortunately, I was already going to see it and the tickets had been bought. Now, I've emailed her again to say "YES, LET'S." Because I could SOVERYMUCH see this again. (I'm just afraid of getting her hopes up so maybe she doesn't like it.)

I've been peeking at SH LJ comms, now, and am amused that for all the critics' complaining, most SH fans seem to like this film. :-)

Also, I WANT FIC LIKE WHOAH. And vids. And art. And MOREOFEVERYTHING.

That's because the critics aren't SH fans -- they're people who vaguely remember Basil Rathbone movies. That's my impression anyway!

Yeah, that's what I gather. I mean, even I knew the deerstalker isn't mentioned in the books. :-)

I have a friend who is reluctant to see it because she likes the Jeremy Brett version so much. As the expert, what's your verdict on that? Can she still safely see it, or will she hate it?
