Can someone with more knowledge of US children's songs help me out? I need a song about water/bathing/washing that's old enough that Buffy might have heard it as a child. Var has kindly suggested "This is the way we wash our face", which works just fine, especially since I actually know the tune (it's the same as "önska önska runt i ring" in ( Read more... )

I do remember that Tiny Tim turtle song from when I was a child, and I'm older than Buffy, so I'm sure that would work. I can't think of any others off the top of my head, but if I do I'll let you know!

I knew that song as:

"I had a little turtle, his name was Tiny Tim. I put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim. First he did the backstroke, then he did the side. Now he's underwater, swimming against the tide."

I don't recognize the turtle song, other than I bet the tune is the same as Miss Lucy - Miss Lucy had a steamboat, the steamboat had a bell, Miss Lucy went to heaven, the steamboat went to hell-O operator...

The Rubber Ducky song is awfully cute, but I feel it's more about the ducky than about the bath, so I probably won't pick that one. It's great fun learning it, though!
