This is actually the first spoilers I read for this movie.
Wash! Noooo! Was that really necessary? Why do the funny guys always have to die? I'm really glad I read this though, because if I'd seen the movie without knowing, I might have gone into severe shock.
I'm still not quite over U.S Marshals, and that was ten years ago or something.
And yay for Kaylee! I'm not a Kaylee/Simon shipper either, but good for her!
Yeah, Wash is... ow. It made it hard for me to be happy leaving the theater, because on one hand really pretty movie and on the other WAH!
And Zoe was all brave about it - not for the first ten seconds or so, but then she sort of closed up and was tough-girl Zoe, only she seemed so very desolate without Wash to loosen her up a little. Remember how Mal lost his faith in the pilot episode? It was kind of like that. I really felt for her, though I think the people who haven't seen the show might react differently.
And Kaylee was a darling - she got a bit shortshifted storywise, but her parts were still so very Kaylee it was an utter delight to watch.
I had a hunch that Book would go, since I was stupid enough to read the track titles of the soundtrack *sigh*, but Wash, I had no idea and it surprised me, and not in a good way. Joss killed Wash! WTF?!
On the upside, it's a death that's really felt, at least among the fans. On the downside, I don't think it'll work like that for newscomers - funny, quirky guys like Wash get killed off even in romcoms, so I don't think anyone who hasn't seen the show will get very upset or even surprised.
And of course, another major downside is that once again I go for the sidekicks, and once again one of them ends up dead. *sigh* I have to keep telling myself that it's traditional, and that you're not supposed to love the sidekicks more than the heroes anyway.
