Rewatching Angel season one on TV4 (I can't believe it's taken them this long to start showing it!), I'm discovering a new interest in Wesley. It's been so long since I saw the first eps that I'd forgotten what a long, hard journey the character takes, how much he develops and changes, yet stays the same. It's such a sensitively executed character arc, and, well, I'm finding myself full of Wesley-love. *g*
And I'm beating myself up a bit for not following the last seasons on Danish tv. I worked so many Sundays when Angel ran that I couldn't manage to keep up with taping it, and now that I live in Småland, I don't have access to the Danish channels anymore. I'm itching for when I can get hold of the dvds.
Wesley's character development is truly fascinating.
When I first saw season 1, I had already gotten involved in the Doyle corner of the fanworld, and there was some pretty nasty Wesley-hatred back then. I saw his eps and went completely "?" since I thought he was a fairly fabulous character. And then as I started writing him, I watched him closer and as a result cared for him even more.
In fact, when he first got "scruffy" I was a bit pissed off at the people who were suddenly Wes fans when they had never been before. And I was also a bit worried that we'd "lose" him completely (as has been the case with other characters) But now upon re-watching I can enjoy it more fully, since I know it's all good. :-)
And as you said, re-watching is fascinating because so much is different and yet so much is the same - like how even back in The Ring, Wes used the same shady methods of interrogation as he did in s4.
I'm itching for when I can get hold of the dvds.
So am I, and I do watch Danish TV. Once a week is too slow, damn it! *g*
