I did the same back in the day when I used the in-game camera and couldn't get pictures during them. Now that I re-installed I forgot that apparently the default on my computer is to have the cinematics on. After watching a few I turned them off again, mostly for the sake of consistency.
In fact I do, and there's no need to look far. :) It's one of Jenn's hair recolors from this summer, found in this post: http://ndainye.livejournal.com/85413.html. According to the picture gallery that particular hair is called "Tikaska Tossled". A few of my sims seem to be sporting one of these hairs this generation. :)

I can honestly say I've never played with cinematics on, so all of them are new for me!
Just a heads-up--I think the face template Joshua Ruben's based off of is one of the ones that throws the random elf ears at Child and Teen. So if the kids have pointy ears all of a sudden, that's why.

They're mostly new for me too. I turned them off back in the day when I used the in-game camera for pictures and couldn't get any during cinematics. Oh, thanks for the warning! I think I would have been pretty confused if I'd just gotten elf-ears out of nowhere. The only sim in my hood that has those in Alphabetia is Sal, so elf-ears in the Custer branch of the family would be a big surprise!
