They are starting to damage my calm!

I pride myself on being pretty darn unflappable at work. 6'4" 65 year old man with full grown Santa style beard and sexy Santa mini skirt? Escorting high-as-a-kite drunk people off airplanes? Getting banana peels thrown at me? Yeah, whatevs. Just another day in the life. So perhaps I was just off my game today but I got seriously flapped by ( Read more... )

Admittedly, I often answer "How are you?" with "Not dead yet," but I smile when I say it. :)

Yes, admittedly it was not the "not dead yet" that threw me, but the way he did it. And he was quite a nice guy after that, but the hello was incredibly weird and awkward!

I'd say both are weird, but neither is creepy.

Fair enough. Not Dead Yet Guy was not terribly creepy, just weird. Though the delivery was done slightly creepily. The spider pin was DEFINITELY CREEPY but the lady wearing it was actually quite lovely. I just couldn't not flinch whenever I spotted it perched there on her shoulder. /o\ *is a spider fearing wimp*

Spider woman! *shudders* Would have made me jump out of my skin.

I think I'd write off the Not Dead Yet Guy to a, hmm, sardonic/morbid sense of humour - possibly awkward to do it to a stranger, but not creepy per se. Maybe he's been through hard times? Who knows. I totally understand that you were thrown for a loop; I know I would've been. Hee! *hugs*

(Edited to use my perfect icon for these occasions...)

Oh my gosh, it was soooooo creepy! She was actually lovely-- totally nice. But I couldn't help but twitch whenever I spotted that spider perched on her shoulder. I do not suffer spiders. *shudders just remembering*

I really have to agree with you. I think he may have been chronically ill or battling something major. It really just caught me off guard and threw me off more than anything. Reflecting back, I can't say I was creeped out, and even my weirded outness was more due to surprise and my shock at my own total lack of response rather than actual perceived creepiness/weirdness. hmmm ...

Haha, it truly is perfect! *adores* *is properly weird her own self*

Definitely spider lady. *shudder* Spiders just... unnerve me to the core. I've gotten to the point where I can kill them - from a safe distance with hubby's boot but I swear I use a whole roll of paper towels to clean that up and I still shudder like crazy.
