I just learned that Arthur C. Clarke has passed away at the age of 90.

*stands and salutes Arthur C. Clark*

You, sir, were beyond genius in your writing and your knowledge of astronomy. Not only did you bring us perhaps the very best sci-fi stories of the 20th century, but you were instrumental in mankind's first steps in space exploration. I believe that the Apollo missions and many other trips into space may not have happened if it weren't for you. You're a pioneer in your own rights and you will be missed.

Man, I still remember Songs of Distant Earth. That book was weird and I read it when I was really young, along with Imperial Earth, Rama, and a bunch of his short stories.

He wasn't great at character so much as really innovative ideas. I hope he goes to a great adventure, somewhere up there.
