From a friend of a friend...

This is terrifying. A LJ user apparently made some sort of entry saying negative things about the president in what was meant to be a goofy, fun matter, and got a RL visit from the Secret Service. Scary as hell. Shades of 1984Now, I haven't read the original entry that got her in trouble. It may have crossed a line. I don't know ( Read more... )

I saw the original post archived on Google and it was an obvious joke. The only reason it was investigated is that someone with a grudge against her reported it.

...I hope I don't make any enemies.

I didn't. It was provided by a person on OTF_Wank (which I am not supposed to read, but hey....)

That's just... scary.

I agree, the Secret Service guys make my horomones to KRAZEE things!! *silly grin*

I don't like Bush's policies and it annoys me to have to endure one of his speeches, however, I wish no harm come to him and I hope he remains healthy and happy the rest of his days. I've certainly done some Bush-bashing (non-threatning) on my LJ, but I hope that *I* don't get visited!!

Well, I think it used to be that the only crime you could be arrested for before actually committing the crime was plotting to kill the president. In this day and age, I would imagine they have to take every incident, goofy or not, seriously.

I'm horrible human being. My first thought when reading this was "Cool!". I know it must've been a horrible experience for the poor girl but...it's the Secret Service! They're at your house and they think you're going to kill the President. They're something delightfully absurd about that. It would be a story I would be telling to anybody who would stand still long enough to listen. As for the FBI having a record for me, though this may sound arrogant, I wouldn't be remotely surprised if they didn't already have one.

"Did I ever tell you about the time the Secret Service showed up at my house?"
"Yeah Grandma, shut up."
"And they locked me up with a million Bush plushies and Mulder and Scully rescued me."
"You forgot to take your pills again didn't you?"

As much as the idea delights me, I won't be trying for it. With my history that'd result in happy prison time faster then you can say 'threat to national security'.
