I knew you'd appreciate these. I'm still chuckling over some of them. Two absolutely awful phrases that aren't on that list were actually written by a friend of mine who was dipping into Robin Hood fandom in the years when Michael Praed was "The Hooded Man".
"The sheriff got down from his horse for a little light conversation with the natives."
and my especial favourite:
"Robin came out from behind a bush and showed himself."
Bwahahaha. She was mightily offended when I fell off the office chair laughing in all the wrong places.
He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.
...... wow. That sounds like something I'd write in an email.
