Had a good cry in my boss' office today. It was the best! I am not humiliated and mad at myself for professional self-sabotage at all! And frankly the issue, while thorny and somewhat upsetting, was not at all worth crying about, so what the hell, self. UGH ( Read more... )

Thank you. I do feel better now. I am also pretty amused in retrospect about the meeting I had on the topic on Tuesday, which made it very clear that the specialists in the topic with whom I was meeting had NO IDEA how this stuff actually works in my department. There was a lot of "but that doesn't reflect reality." "Sure it does, because X Y and Z." "But X Y and Z are a different kind of reality than A B and C, which is what I'm asking about!" "But X Y and Z..." Sigh.

Oh, man. You have my empathy for the crying thing. You really, really do. I have done that and I know how it feels, especially the aftermath. I'm so sorry.

Been there with the crying thing and it really is terrible afterward. Ugh, indeed.

I spent several months thinking someone on AO3 had taken the username "Anonymous". They were fairly prolific! Then it dawned on me.
