I enjoyed Micah-and-Monica and Matt-and-Nathan, and I could happily have fast-forwarded through everything else. And in fact, I, um, may have done so in a few places. I definitely agree on the "more fun, ASAP" front.
I think part of what's going on is that the writers feel like they're required to keep favorite characters right there on the screen in order to keep our interest. Which... may be accurate, sadly, but does not lead to organic writing. (I mean, WTF RE Peter? He's amnesiac! He's in trouble with a gang! He's a member of a gang! He doesn't want to know who he is! He does want to know who he is! It's like a speed arc.)
I've been feeling very meh about Heroes this season. So many characters not enough time to see the depths/layers I'd like. And some aspects of the dynamics and stereotypes that make me feel even more meh.
I was feeling seriously meh about this season until last night, which actually perked me up quite a bit. I love Micah-n-Monica (in fact I love Monica, period) and was happy to see some actual plot movement & characters connecting in ways that could prove interesting.
Also, shallow enough to note that while Nathan left me cold last season, cranky + stubble is the way to make me sit up and say yum.
I like Monica and Micah being all "whee I have powers!" adorable
That was the one part of the episode last night that made me kind of glowy, because the rest of the characters are struggling so relentlessly with the dark and negative implications of their powers--even Hiro, the guy who has the most positive attitude toward his, is stuck in the middle of an F-plot where he's trying to set right a timeline that he screwed up--and it was just lovely to see those two kids getting some sheer joy out of just being able to do something amazing.

Agree about Peter's hair though. ;)

And I admit to being somewhat annoyed at myself by how annoyed I am by him. Er...if that makes sense?
