Is nice to hear/read Christmas is not so awful for all!
I must laugh as I read about the glasses and "why we don't buy nice glasses anymore"
my mother broke one from the few leftover (lucky?!) wine glasses, one from my family tradition!
I will count the other victims...and hope you have some more fun during this holiday!
Frohe Weihnachten!

I like this Maddie. Good-sounding girl. Anyone who will share an armchair and the safety it offers is good stuff.

I have to say, this “You look so pretty” WINS. That’s as good as Papa Otto’s thing to Mimi. [He’s our aunt’s husband’s dad; very Italian, you know? He managed to insult Mimi individually and all of her sisters and female cousins in one fell blow when introducing her to his latest girlfriend with “she used to be the pretty one.” In front of everyone. It was HILARIOUS. Our aunt keeps trying to apologize in between laughing when she re-tells the story, but the best part was that he basically meant Mimi’d lost weight, so… it was really fine.]

Although it’s probably even better that your aunt was having those conversations with everyone right there. Beautiful. You have to love them.

Huh. So how did those games work out? Just the “dice game”?

You're a sweetie. Mine was cool, anyway!

Don't we just have to love families? Mine really does get hilarious as grandma gets older, and as everyone does more and more of the drinking. Generally alcohol at gatherings bothers me, but for some reason, at Christmas, it just makes everyone a lot more amusing.

And yeah..."family bonding games" didn't really happen; just the dice game, which is just "role dice, if you get doubles, you get to pick from the pile of wrapped up crap in the middle of the room." It's hilarious to watch though.

I'm glad you had a nice holiday. :)

I'm sorry, I just read "family bonding" and got... entirely the wrong meaning... It's because it's coming from the Mistress! Not because of my dirty mind!

Haha. And I spoke too soon - we were all fine here, but meanwhile an hour away, where our aunt and her family are within spitting distance of Boppie and his evil wife and the evil wife's family, things Went Down. But everyone's pretty unscathed.

You just broke my brain...you naughty naughty child. I'd make a comment about apparently I have an apprentice, but this takes on far too many undertones I just wouldn't be able to cope with, and so my poor shattered mind will stay over here in the corner where it belongs.

Oo, family drama...glad to hear that no one ended up getting family eviceration...the holidays really do end up being such a cauldron of the bittersweet.

No more big family holidays for at least 4 months!
