There's a lot of books that I love.  That I'll read time and time again.  That decorate my bookshelves and my thoughts.

But it's only once every few years that a book comes along that really changes me, that I have an intense personal experience with, that truly helps me wrestle with some of my personal issues, and truly becomes what Kenneth Burke ( Read more... )

I just checked this book out from the library (yesterday, as a matter of fact) -- now I'm especially excited to read it :)

Books which have spoken to me personally...that's a tough one. Certainly Tammy Pierce's books have done that. I liked Alanna, I loved Daine, and I adore Keladry! I think Keladry is the person I would like to be -- kind to all, someone who does whatever she needs to in order to save those she loves (and even those she doesn't). I reread that quartet at least once a year, and it always inspires me to keep going, to keep working, to take it one step at a time.

I think I need to go back to Tamora Pierce -- I haven't read her in years but I do remember really liking her.

It's good to have books you can go back to, time and time again. One of those beautiful life blessings.

I tend to read a lot more YA fantasy than YA contemporary, so it takes a really good contemporary fic to hook me in. This did that, and then kept getting better and better with every page.

A book that really spoke to me... even changed my life, if you will forgive the phrase... is "A Voice in the Wind" by Francine Rivers. I recommend it to anyone!

I haven't heard of that before, but it looks really good. It's officially on my to-read list.
