I was reading A Bruxa de Portobello by Paulo Coehlo during my lunch break today. And I put the Portuguese title because I was indeed reading it in Portuguese (in English it's called the Witch of Portobello). Reading in Portuguese is slow for me...but doable. First off, I think writers should be paid for their work. I don't think E-book retailers should take advantage of publishers, or vice versa. I think some of what's been going on--boycotting by companies and stuff--is childish. Just finished Wives and Daughters for a book group I'm part of.

My thoughts:

If you like Jane Austen at all, this is a must read.  It hits home in discussing female sensibilities, attaches us to the main character (Molly), and uses vivid description to paint a beautiful (if perhaps impossible) world.

I just spent the weekend in Venice.  But not the Venice that you're thinking of--it's Venice, UT, so small there's not even a wikipedia page on it.
