An extremely long, harsh winter and delayed spring is proving to be much harder for our woodland creatures than I would have thought.

The Winter was a harsh one. Last year we planted 30-40 red tulips in front of my mother-in-laws house. They were growing well, the next visit to her house all the tulips were gone. Nibbled to stubs. I can't blame the deer, they needed the fresh green vegetation.

For us tulips add colour and beauty to our life. For them it is survival. They can eat mine too. The deer also add beauty too. Locally a deer was hit and run by a larger vehicle and died a long and terrible death. To think such a lovely creature survived this past winter only to be mowed down by species of stupid humans. Sad....
