This and that

No-one could say that life in our road is uneventful. This morning our next door neighbour's son nearly got arrested for the second time over non-payment of fines for not having his parking permit. We are in a controlled parking zone so all residents have to pay to park here. M's argument is that as he only lives here 4 days a week he doesn't need ( Read more... )

Have you considered buying some close-up work glasses from the cheap sites just for around the house? I've got some and they aren't very pretty, but it means I can put my distance glasses all over the place so I always have them in the right car, etc. Jolly useful for a forgetful person like me who never seems to have my glasses for reading things at a distance (e.g. at the station) when I need them but might be handy just for doing close work?

I do think people don't feel that some rules apply to them when they clearly do! I hope he's learned his lesson this time!

I really doubt if he has. He's an anti-vaxxer too...

Even from a cheap site my lenses would be well into 3 figures I'm afraid so I don't think having a second pair would really be worth it for something I only do occasionally. I need new glasses soon so I may ask about it then but if it is a choice between having the correct focus for reading or knitting then reading wins every time.

i don't understand why some people think that rules only apply to other people. Here's hoping he's learned his lesson.

I'm afraid that I don't think he will have done. He's a cheery guy when not ranting about something or other but it's one rule for him and another for everyone else.

It was really good news as she has been waiting quite a while but it looks as if it was worth it.

Ooh - the bailiffs would certainly add some excitement to the day! I reckon living there 4 days a week makes it his primary residence -after all it is more han half of every week. I'm guessing his maths work differently to mine!

That is good news a bout the lady getting her kidney transplant.

I'm not sure our neighbour's son's maths work at all. If his car had been towed away, as they were threatening to do, he wouldn't have been able to do his job.

It is good news as Janet has been waiting quite a while for a kidney that was a good match but it seems to have been worth it. I don't think anyone expected her to be home so quickly, though obviously she will have to keep going back for tests.
