A taste of normality

On Saturday we did something we haven't done for over a year and met my brother and sister-in-law in a pub. We have seen my brother and sister-in-law more recently but we haven't set foot in a pub since March last year. Doing what were previously normal things again is such a pleasure.

So do I but we don't mind waiting.

It really was a pleasure to feel nearly normal again. The staff were wearing very colourful masks so even that felt more like a fun thing than something ominous.

I think the beginning of the pandemic was quite depressing regarding cancelled things. I had so many outings planned with various friends and it wasn’t just the outings it was that I didn’t get to see them either .... unfortunately it went across several months which was quite hard to deal with at the time.

The weather is back to being unpredictable isn’t it.

You could say that :)

The irony of everything being cancelled is that we had been looking at everything we had booked for April 2020 and wondering whether we were doing too much! Then we ended up doing nothing at all. It has definitely meant I'm approaching rebooking things with a very great degree of caution in order to avoid going through all that disappointment (and the complications of claiming the money back) again.

Absolutely. I took some credit notes for a couple of things, which may have been a mistake, but seemed easier at the time.
