So this is Lockdown Day 28

Apr 20, 2020 16:39

It was J's birthday on Saturday which was a little bit strange for him as I couldn't really get him much of a present. I did manage to buy a box of delicious cheese from Neal's Yard Dairy which we are both enjoying a lot. Expensive but worth it. Luckily it was a rather dull day so it didn't feel quite as painful as it might have done not to go out ( Read more... )

Belated happy birthday to J.

I'm avoiding all but the news headlines as that's enough news for me....

It is good to have outside space isn't it? I have a lot of options to walk in the countryside without jumping in a car (thanks to my Nordic walking group which showed me where they are all tucked away!), but I do love the garden to sit in and enjoy.

I've avoided quite a few dramas as they are just too depressing at the moment although we caught up with 'London Kills' which is a lunchtime police series which we enjoyed last year. Nothing else has appealed so far. I need feel good stuff tbh.

I'm finding it much more difficult to watch drama than to read for some reason. We did start watching Quiz tonight which is very good so far.

Our walking options are a bit limited by having to walk in quite busy streets to get to the more open areas. There are plenty but it doesn't feel very safe getting to them.

Thanks for the belated birthday wishes. It was a bit strange for him.

You’ll enjoy Quiz. We’ve just watched all three episodes.

We saw the stage play and really enjoyed it so it's fun to see how they have widened it out. The audience voted at the beginning and the end about whether they thought Charles Ingram was guilty or not. Unfortunately they obviously haven't been able to duplicate that but the change in opinion was fascinating in the theatre.

I watch about ten minutes of news and then read the local stuff - which is more cheering as we are doing pretty well.

I am mainly watching documentaries, too - and the food channel :)

I have some radishes in a pot, and a couple of tiny shoots from the pepper seeds, as well as some three leafed lettuces - I am hoping to get some pepper plants and chilli plants delivered from Suttons in the next month or so. Mainly I have been planting petunias - the garden will be colourful till September or October I think!

Our M&S radishes are doing quite well but the M&S beetroots have so far failed. I've got some more seeds and plants on order but I'm having trouble remembering what I've ordered now (and also pondering where on earth in the garden I'm going to put it).

We wake up to the 7 o'clock radio news, listen to the actual news bulletin then check again in the evening for the 10 o'clock tv news. I'm trying to stop myself checking online too much.

I find documentaries very soothing at the moment.

My M&S beetroot pot has about 12 tiny shoots - I will have to plant them into something bigger soon I think.

I should have had more faith in M&S's seeds. We now have one tiny beetroot shoot so may get more. Obviously they are much slower to germinate than the radishes which are already being transferred to bigger pots.

We've been watching the news because my country is such a s**tshow right now. Mostly to be ready for the worst. NJ, where I live, is a pretty hot spot right now so we are laying low for the moment.

My husband is planting tomatoes and sweet peas but spring has been cold this year. We'll see how it goes.

We've had a ridiculously mild spring and my sweet peas are planted out but everything else is still at the seedling stage. We are such inexpert gardeners I shall be pleased if anything grows at all.

We're in a fairly hot spot so we are laying low too. Stay safe!
