Happy New Year and Happy New Decade (according to most people)

Jan 01, 2020 16:01

I'm not going to do a round up post for the decade because sad things happened but last year was a good one personally (though not for the country). We did a number of very nice things, which I haven't written about, went on a couple of wonderful holidays, which I also haven't written about and generally had a very good time ( Read more... )

I'm glad you've considered doing the daily meme - it will be nice to see you posting more here.

I've been looking over my entries for 2010 - I hadn't realised how traumatic that year was for me! OMG! I much prefer my life now.

I love the sound of that Rembrandt lecture - lilachigh and I are off to see the exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery later this month.

We need to find some time to do something in London! I shall email you in the next few days and we must get something in the diary :)

Definitely. That would be lovely.

I shall try and keep up with the meme but I suspect I may not manage all of it.

The Rembrandt lecture was amazing. I don't think Simon Schama paused for breath for over an hour. Fortunately we had been to the Rembrandt exhibition when we were in Amsterdam last February so I had at least an inkling of what he was talking about but even Melvyn Bragg looked a little stunned.

I also read 56 books which is very good for me as some of them were non-fiction and long

I seem to have read a lot of 'light entertainment' and very little of substance this year :)

The Simon Scharma lecture sounds wonderful.

The Simon Scharma lecture was wonderful. At the end I felt as if my brain had been turned inside out!

I've read a lot of "light entertainment" too but I was quite pleased to manage some longer books that had been sitting on my TBR list for far too long. Now to tackle the rest!

I've been trying to lose weight. It didn't help that I went on a cruise. Now I'm back to struggling to get back to where I was before the cruise. Good luck with yours!

Thanks. I was quite pleased with myself when I only put on 2lbs on a river cruise last summer as we could have eaten our own body weight in food! Best of luck losing weight to you too :)
