It's Meme time again

Has August gone? Good, it might be safe to venture out again. The good news is that my mum is out of hospital, the bad news is that she refused to have carers for when she came out. The bad news is that she has now decided that she needs them, the good news is that after several phone calls from me her doctor has now arranged them for her, the bad ( Read more... )

I am not surprised you're not posting much. In my personal experience, dealing with elders is the most time-consuming and emotionally draining thing there is.

Your list of books read really puts me to shame. I used to be such a prolific reader but I've hardly picked up a book in the last six months. :(

"Time-consuming and emotionally draining" exactly describes it. I went round to Mum's house today for what I thought would be about 2 hours and it ended up being more like 6!

I have such a large TBR pile that I simply have to carry on reading just to reduce it a bit. I used to read faster but my eyes get too tired now to read too much in one go.

Glad to hear that things with your mum are getting straightened out. Sounds like a lot of work, though. :(
Your book reading puts me to shame. I haven't read a book in years as I do all my reading in fanfic online.

Thanks. Hopefully we took another step towards getting my mother sorted out today, but it does seem a lot of work at the moment.

I haven't read any fanfic for ages. I keep meaning to get back to it but I feel so guilty about my enormouse To Be Read pile of books that I have to go back to it.

I'm glad your mum is better than she was. My parents were just as stubborn and it does make you wonder whether you might be the same. I hope I'm not - I'd really like someone to come and do chores for me (now!) ;)

I don't know what my mother was thinking when she said no to the original care offer. It's made getting some when she changed her mind more complicated.

I suspect I may well be just as stubborn as not just my mother but also my grandmother was notable for her stubborness!

Yes, I can see that "stressed" would be your current mood. Here's hoping that things improve with your Mom.

Thanks. I hope we made some steps forward today, but it can sometimes be difficult to get Mum to agree to what seems like commonsense to me!

Unfortunately no-one has yet discovered a cure for stubbornness, but she wouldn't be my mother if she was easy!

Tell me about it! You know you have my every sympathy.

Thanks. I thought I might and than icon is perfect :) I had to wait 6 hours for the Occupational Therapist to come and see her today, but it was worth it for the brilliant way she handled my mother.
