A mix of things

Feb 06, 2014 12:04

Not really the book meme again this week as I've been very busy and so I'm still reading the same thing. Unfortunately I woke up on 1st February, looked at my enormous TBR pile and made a resolution to buy no more books in February. This was at about 8.00am, by 12.30pm I was the proud owner of the *three* new books. Admittedly I'd only bought one ( Read more... )

films, days out, play review, weather, books

I'm trying to chastise myself for the new books, but they were all ones I wanted to read.

It has been an arty few days and a nice distraction from the endless rain! Mum and I were lucky on Monday in that we didn't get wet, which was quite a novelty.

Many hugs back.

I've got tickets to take the girls to see Warhorse as part of NT Live at the end of February - we'd never manage to get to London to see it, so this will be the next best thing I hope.

We've a friend who pops into the Wallace Collection every time she's in London - one day I'd like to get there too! That talk on childrens' books sounds extremely interesting, glad you got your mum there and back in one piece.

I hadn't been to the Wallace Collection for ages but it's one of London's little known treasures. It has some wonderful things in it, and best of all, it's free!

I'm sure the NT Live showing of Warhorse will be terrific. I believe they do a great job of catching the flavour of the production and you can probably see things that we couldn't in the theatre.

I am so pleased to see so many of my FL visiting the Wallace collection recently - it is such a good place. The food is very good, too... :)

Yes, it was :)

It's an excellent place to visit, even with someone who can't walk very well, as they have good lift access to all floors, so we could see what we wanted to see without any problems. My mum liked the shop too!

Sounds busy!!! I loved all the furniture at the Wallace collection and the snuff boxes.

We stuck to the art mostly as we didn't have enormous amounts of time, but I want to go back and look at more. It has been busy, but good fun.

This was at about 8.00am, by 12.30pm I was the proud owner of the *three* new books. LOL! But your resolve did last for four and a half hours!

Getting anywhere with my mum now is an exercise in logistical planning as she can't walk very far. This sounds SO familiar and it's pretty exhausting, but it seems like you both had a good time! The Wallace Collection - another thing on my list for the next London visit...

Yes, you should definitely put it on your list. It's full of interesting treasures and not well known.

It really is. I now know why J used to regard going anywhere with his mother as travelling with an unexploded bomb! I couldn't believe it when Mum tripped on the pavement because as far as I could see it was completely flat!

But your resolve did last for four and a half hours!

True. Perhaps I should congratulate myself on lasting that long *g*.
