This is becoming a habit

Jul 05, 2008 16:36

I seem to have been posting regularly on Saturday afternoon's as a way to entertain myself before Doctor Who. Today I really need the distraction hence bullet points.

  • Buffy/AtS comics: I'd got a bit behind with these or else they've come out with amazing frequency as yesterday I collected Buffy 8:16 and Angel: After the Fall 9 & 10.

    Very brief thoughts )

dr who, after the fall, comics, btvs/ats

Your view of the comics and mine was pretty similar.

As for DW eps, I just don't remember them well enough to rate them, I'm afraid.

Have a good time in Lincs.

Thanks. We're supposed to be doing useful things in the exceptionally slow process of clearing my late mother-in-law's house, but somehow we usually manage to get distracted and now quite achieve what we intend!

I'm still enjoying "After the Fall" quite a bit but I do feel it lost momentum when it went into flashback mode, and while I'm enjoying the fact that all the characters are getting a mention it is confusing at times.

I don't remember the old ones really well but I saw quite a lot of the Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker episodes when UK Gold repeated them so my memory has been jogged on thos.

Thanks for the link to Telegraph's Top 10 Doctor episodes. I hadn't seen that yet. I've put my own comments on it here.

I have all of the Buffy Season 8 comics (I get them as they come out), but I haven't read any of them. I'm not even bothering with the Angel comics.

There are good things and bad things about both series. The Angel series has some really intriguing storylines but Buffy Season 8 has been very patchy. It might read better all in one go.

That list of Top 10 Doctor Who episodes was fascinating ... makes me want to go back and see the older seasons even more!

If you had to pick only one episode to watch I would go with Genesis of the Daleks. The effects will look very dated now but the story is a particularly strong one.

I don't have a problem with dated effects; my science fiction career started with the original Star Trek!

We watched Criminal Justice - have to admit I wasn't keen beforehand, and didn't pay that much attention to the first episode, but was drawn in, and by the end was completely riveted. Ben Whishaw did a fabulous job (the difference in him from first to last ep was amazing), and I love Con O'Neil - indeed it was a great cast overall.

Chilling to wonder whether that's what it's really like inside the system though.

Hope you've had a good house-clearing week, with some good distractions too.

It turned out to be more of a garden-clearing week as we got there to discover the garden was trying to get into the house! It was very useful, but quite tiring.

I love Con O'Neil - indeed it was a great cast overall.

It really was and I thought Con O'Neil's character was worthy of his own series.
