Ah... good. This one hasn't exploded...

In response to the displeasure about the heat, I've been working on developing weather-altering systems that are a bit more restrained and less catastrophic than the "drop a small planet on a larger one and let the resulting dust clouds invoke an eternal winter" version ( Read more... )

Hey there daaaaarrrrliiiing. So this weather changing compact device thing you're working on...it's pretty broad-scale ain't it? You know, if you could get it to work on an individual level that'd be nice.

Let me guess -- you've lost your e-mag rod and are looking for a new portable way to zap bugs, mosquitoes, thugs, and other irritating vermin?

A bit less tongue in cheek, I am working on it; it seems as though it could be a useful alternative to the absence of outdoor air conditioning. As you know, though, I've always had that little problem with overkill.

Much as I hate to admit it, Losstarot would be far better at this than I am. I simply refuse to ask him for anything else; he's already far too smug about the fact that my attempts at creating a water slide produced more of an ice-rimmed microcrater taking a chunk out of one of the mountains...

Sarcasm babes? That cuts to the quick...but no I have the e-mag right here, I'd be happy to show it to ya sometime.

Overkill is your forte huh? Of course that's what I'm talking about moderation I'm such a hypocrite heh. Regulating this weather changing thing or condensing it. You could have five different kinds of weather happening on the same block...before you know it there'll be tornadoes...hurricanes...tsunamis.

Actually that sounds fun~

One of these days I'll have to go to the mountains and look at your handy work.

I suspect if I created a device that would allow people to pit their pocket tornadoes against their pocket tsunamis within the city limits, I would be arrested by my own men for hazards to the city.

...of course, if I let them do so in a suitably large space outside the city limits, I'd probably create a new category of sporting event.

It's hard to miss, really. Head up the northwest trail and you'll find where about a fifth of a mountain's landmass used to be. I was rather disappointed with my failures, but glad that at least I'd had the foresight to conduct the tests outside the city limits...

I'd play that sport.

Well, hope this pocket weather thing doesn't turn out like the icy water-slide. Might even be brilliant if you can get it to work.

I'm afraid the emphasis is quite heavily on the 'if' at the moment, but it would be quite amusing, wouldn't it?

[omg dead of icon. XDDDD]

At least I thought better of it before I practiced inside the city limits? And I thought better of the raining-potatoes spell before attempting to develop one of those as well. But it would have been so handy for acquiring fries to go along with the number of fish that would have been fried if I'd anchored the outlet of the lightning spells into the deep sea, and... well. Never mind. I don't care to wrangle with the lawyers that might be invoked if a stray change in wind direction moved the potato storm over a fragile section of city infrastructure.

I do learn. Really I do. It's just that I seem to be a very hands-on type of learner...

That sounds like something William would have tried....and with the same amount of success, as well.

[ooc: LOL! Potato storm wins all! XD]

William? The exploding-machine-maker, William? I believe I've just been insulted. I did take care to leave the city first, after all.

And it's not as though I have access to the most subtle of tools; the point of lightning materia is to cause the greatest possible amount of bodily harm to your enemies. It's akin to shooting a cannon in order to gain a loud noise and a puff of smoke -- you have to do something with the weapon itself, and... ah, never mind.

I refuse to ask Losstarot about it myself. He has this smirk. I know what he's thinking when he does it; it looks far too much like my own...

[ooc: 'forecast for Saturday, fried fish on the rising tide and it'll be raining hashbrowns, so you may need to bring an umbrella, ketchup, and tartar sauce in addition to sunblock on any expeditions to the beach...' ^___~]

[hugs on!] I pretty much never get on AIM anymore because when I've got free time around a computer I'm usually so far behind here or on ficstuff that I've got to get stuff done, and I just can't multitask posting and AIMing at any kind of speed. ;_; Have you got a LJ I can friend you at, though?
