The rare footage she has of him makes her remember the sharp-eyed soldier she trained and married far more than she wants to.
Perhaps if she points this out to Slade, he'll stop wondering when the sucking cloud of doom will eat him.

Joe... isn't a soldier. She doesn't want him to be.
I hear Wonder Girl, Speedy, Aqualad, and Kid Flash are going to get a cosmic phonecall soon.

Hey, maybe he could team up with them.

Does this make Dick Tara?

I'm back in the threesome with Kory place, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

If he is older than Joey she will shoot out *her* eye.
Relative age is very difficult, but I don't think so. Not with the sideburns. Most 19 year olds can't manage decent facial hair.

It had been all over the news, Batman's death and Richard Grayson's disappearance.
Dick doesn't miss having to hide.

The things *she* could have done with this boy...
I fear. Honestly. I like him better as an assassin than as an outright soldier.

She stifles the urge to tell Slade to train that openness out of him; it will be useful ( ... )

I am not at all certain this Adeline would send Joey to work with the Titans, but I am also not at all certain that she *wouldn't*, and he's... better off with them.

Aside from the eventual possession by Azarathians gone evil, of course.

Does this make Dick Tara?

*chokes*

He's *much* saner than she was. And Slade likes him more.

I'm back in the threesome with Kory place, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Oh, now, aren't *you* a pretty image...

I fear. Honestly. I like him better as an assassin than as an outright soldier.

So does Slade. There's a reason that, of all his options, Dick did not get sent to Adeline, even though she's one of the best in the business and Slade knows it.

Dick's *pretty* without his mask(s), metaphorically and literally.

Something in the way he looks at you, Ms. Kane, could tip off a blind man.

And Dick's not even half-blind...

Oh, Slade. You'll always be in love with her and she knows it. So do you.

That's the beauty of all this. Slade betrayed Dick and everything he stood for simply by ( ... )

*points upwards* Uh, what she said, because I'm too busy going FLAILFLAILFLAILFLAILFLAIL to be any use.

You were coherent the other day. There's limited amounts of coherence among people.

(*kinda flails with you*)

Adeline watches at the way Slade smiles at him and wonders if she was ever that young, and when this child will realize that Slade is in love with him -- whether she should tell him so -- and when Slade will betray him, too.

Damn, but that's one hell of a way to end a story. Great follow-up to Petra's story - it's absolutely natural as a continuation.

*beams* Everybody I spammed with this thing before I finished it made Noises over that paragraph. *pets it*

Thank you! I really *really* love hers, I want it to be Adored Throughout Fandom, so hearing that this felt like it flowed well from that is awesome.

I'll be over there, hiding.

The "when" in the last phrase is pure Adeline.

She can see the Horrible Lurking Doom approaching just as easily as Slade can. Maybe more.

And, well. There's no point being an optimist.

I don't know that Dick would necessarily think of that as a compliment, even now.

Slade does beautiful work. ... The things *she* could have done with this boy...
Dick is endlessly malleable. One does wonder if he'd be turning out quite so much like Deathstroke without his guiding hand.

I'll join the crowd in loving that last paragraph, huge bruises to betrayal--although I'm not quite sure that last bit is up to Slade. I think the ball's in Dick's court now.

BTW, if it isn't any trouble--what issues/arcs should I read to know Adeline?

He quite possibly wouldn't. I... am not sure Slade would, either.

Adeline training Dick would be a thing of *beauty*. Only with far less sex.

We'll say Adeline is a tad biased when it comes to Slade and betrayal. (I agree with you.)

I made you an Adeline primer! It is here.

(Sorry for late reply. RL's been eating my brainmeats lately.)
