.:BM:.

"Why were you Robin?" Arms crossed, Damian stood in full Robin gear beside the console demanding his presence be acknowledged. Gotham had been relatively quiet for the night and his body still hummed with unspent energy.

"I thought you were the family historian." Grayson swiveled his chair and smirked. Predictably, he had removed the ( Read more... )

"No." Though the thought of Brown having been Batboy was amusing. She had the chest for it

I laughed far too hard at that. Heh.

This was excellent!

Thank you.

I was in the zone when I was writing this. But when I wrote that passage I stopped, read it twice, and giggled far too much for reading something I had written. I'm glad you found it amusing as well.

I usually avoid Damian stories like the plague but your summary intrigued me. And I liked this! He's still a jerk but there's hints of soemthing human in there. *squints*

For a kid who's supposedly smart and tough, he sure misreads everyone around him.

Thank you. I'm glad I got around your quarantine. I personally didn't take to Damian until after reading Batman 666 which I didn't read until after a few issues of Batman and Robin came out. When Damian admitted he booby trapped buildings because he could never be as good as Bruce or Dick I suddenly found him a lot more interesting.

Do you know what issue your icon is from? I ask because I was trying to find it for this. It's the passage that Damian isn't knowingly referencing when he suspects Dick thought in terms of forever as a child. I was thinking it was Detective Comics 725 but that was Dixon's "Remember? Us versus them."

And now I seem completely OCD.

Sorry, I don't know what issue my icon's from. You could check with the icon-maker (she's credited in my Icon Page).

I LOVE the theme of Batman and Robin as "Us Against The World!" In the early days it was just them out on the streets relying on each other. And it certainly wasn't as grim with Dick along! He's just what Bruce needed! Still does. :)

I got it. It's Nightwing 75 by Devin. I was way off. This is also the first issue Dick runs into Catalina dressed as Tarantula.

I'm going to pretend I didn't learn these things.

Hee~ I love your Damian.

If I recall correctly, in Dark Victory, Dick calls himself Robin because his mother said he was always 'bob bob bobbing along', like the song.

Thank you.

You are completely right. I cheated and just checked issues 9 and 13 to see if it was mentioned and came up empty. I found it now in issue 12. Proof I should've just reread the whole thing and ignored that life stuff. :)

Very nicely done. I particularly liked

Grayson hugged as if wrapping his arms around someone truly could solve all problems. While the idea was ludicrous and naive, the strength of Grayson's belief forced Damian to monitor all potential hugging situations least he be swept away by the other man.

Thank you.

Damian wasn't around then but he knows there was a time when his father's grim crusade wasn't so grim. And that fact has everything to do with his partner. Though he has a superiority complex, Damian knows on some level if Dick can break through Bruce's defenses, his own defenses are vulnerable as well. But he'd just tell anyone that hugs were stupid and bad hygiene.

That's good insight into Damian's character and also of Dick's. If Bruce's defenses can be breached... :)

Oh they can be breached all right, as we found out that first night at the circus, when the anger and loss in a young boys eyes made him consider the unthinkable and take on the role of mentor and father.

Early in his time at Wayne Manor, Dick was brooding when a robin suddenly flew in a window. (Naturally, young Dick brooded during the day, instead of at night.) “That's it!” Dick told himself. “Criminals are a cranky, pessimistic lot. I’ll bring a little color and joy into their life as…a robin!”

70 years after the origin story is published, a new head writer takes over the Bat comics and writes a riveting 5 year cross over event based on the day in question. The story seeks to understand the robin's true intent as is it flew into the window. What hidden agenda lurked beneath such a majestic flight and innocent song ( ... )
