Picspam time! Since the last pictures were taken (but posted several days late) I have been to Kanazawa, Kyouto, Amanohashidate and Kyouto.

Just a quick pop in to say that my camera hasn't broken, I just have had virtually no time to spam you. I'm in Kyoto now after after a week of traveling with my Dad. I've seen some great stuff which I hope to put up soon.

My JR pass ran out on the 29th and I wanted to use it for something that could be done in one day, didn't involve the whole day on the train but was far enough that I felt I was really getting my money's worth, so I went to Osaka where a Universal Studios Theme Park opened about 2 years ago. If you ever go to Japan you must invest in a Japan Rail Pass. They might seem expensive but they're worth it. My one week pass cost $315CDN. My one way trip from Kagoshima to Tokyo would have cost about $322 plus I get a whole week of free travel after that (including reserved bullet train travel). Another long slog today. 130K. Most of it was along the coast so I had nice views of all the islands in the Inland Sea. I stopped in a town where they have preserved many old buildings. It was really neat to walk down a street and feel transported to an earlier time. I got to Hiroshima in midafternoon and saw a beautiful garden and the A-bomb dome ( Read more... )
