What I did this summer vacation (so far):

As previously noted, I had a pretty good regatta in Vancouver, Washington then got a lift down to Eugene, Oregon. These pics show the sights during my 8 day, 1000K bike trip back to Victoria.

The shoulder on the roads ranged from 2+meters wide to zero.

Was working on a slideshow of my tour from Adelaide to Alice Springs which I will send to the other people on the bus when I was blown away by the excellent results I got with this picture taken looking straight up the cliffs of Uluru (Ayers Rock).

My JR pass ran out on the 29th and I wanted to use it for something that could be done in one day, didn't involve the whole day on the train but was far enough that I felt I was really getting my money's worth, so I went to Osaka where a Universal Studios Theme Park opened about 2 years ago. If you ever go to Japan you must invest in a Japan Rail Pass. They might seem expensive but they're worth it. My one week pass cost $315CDN. My one way trip from Kagoshima to Tokyo would have cost about $322 plus I get a whole week of free travel after that (including reserved bullet train travel).
