Verse Eleven

It didn’t take long for Donghae to discover that blue sand worked just as well to build sand castles as brown did. “That tower is lopsided,” Kibum, who was standing with his feet in the warm water, pointed out helpfully.

Donghae scowled and glared at the tower that was indeed leaning to the side. He took another handful of sand and tried to pat it on the offending structure. Instead of becoming the form it was supposed to, the bottom collapsed causing the tower to sag and finally slump into a small pile.

Kibum chuckled and bent to grab a flat stone from the water. He examined it for a minute before throwing it towards the water. It bounced twice before sinking back into the liquid. “Donghae, we have been in this strange realm for a week and this is our first day off. Why exactly do you want to be down at the beach where we spend every day anyway?”

“Because now we can be here when the great sea creature comes up on the beach,” Donghae answered as he dug a shallow trench around his lumpy construction.

The other man sighed. He should have known that was Donghae’s plan. “Hae, she doesn’t really exist. Hyunjoong just made her up.”

Donghae raised his head and offered him an appalled look. “How would you know? Have you seen her?”

“No I haven’t seen her. She isn’t real so I can’t see her anymore then I can see your made up aliens.”

“Aliens are real!” Donghae insisted, leaping to his feet.

“No they aren’t.”

“Take that back,” he ordered.

“I can’t take back the truth.”

Donghae growled and lunged at Kibum, tackling the other man back into the shallow water. Liquid immediately soaked into Kibum’s clothing and he rolled them over and out of the water so that neither of them would chance drowning.

It wasn’t until Donghae had flipped them again and let out a laugh, that Kibum realized he wasn’t angry or upset in anyway. Instead Donghae’s fingers were drifting over Kibum’s body searching out every sensitive spot and tormenting them. “Take it back!” he crowed giddily.

Kibum squirmed and wiggled, trying his hardest to keep his face straight. He waited until Donghae leaned forward before he arched up sharply upsetting the other man’s balance. A quick shove with his arms sent Donghae sprawling sideways. Kibum immediately followed and planted himself straddling Donghae’s hips. With his lower body pinning the other man’s to the sand, he leaned forward and snagged the arms that were still flailing wildly. He may not look strong but looks could be deceiving, as Kibum proved by pinning Donghae’s wrist to the sand.

Grinning, Donghae’s chest rose and fell as he panted for breath. Every now and again he would give a squirm, more for effect then anything.

“You’re a nut,” Kibum muttered softly. Despite his words he couldn’t stop the smile that spread across his face.

Donghae’s grin widened. “Hey, you followed me of your own free will.”

“Only because I didn’t feel like being dragged,” Kibum argued.

The other man laughed. They spent a moment simply looking at each other, lost in their own minds until Donghae spoke. “I’m glad you are here with me.” A surprised look crossed Kibum’s face. “I missed you.”

“It wasn’t like I wasn’t nearby,” Kibum said softly after a moment.

“Yeah but you were always off doing your own thing. I hardly ever got to see you.”

“Someone has to work to earn money for this crazy family.”

“Hey!” Donghae exclaimed, feigning insult. “I work.”

“I know,” Kibum said with a laugh. On impulse he leaned down and kissed Donghae on the nose.
The other man scrunched his face.

“What am I, five?”

Kibum laughed. “No, why?”

“Because only five year olds get kissed on the nose. That is so juvenile,” Donghae declared smartly.

A questioning look fell across Kibum’s face. “Would you rather I kissed you on the lips? Would that be mature enough for you?”

“Yep,” Donghae replied. His eyes widened when Kibum leaned down and pressed their lips together. A second later Kibum pulled away, smirking at Donghae’s expression.

Donghae’s eyes narrowed. “That is not funny, and not fair.”

“What isn’t fair?” Kibum said with a laugh. “There isn’t a chance that was your first kiss.”

“Of course it wasn’t,” Donghae agreed.

“Then what’s the issue?”

“You can’t just steal a guy’s lips like that. There are rules and procedures and -“ his words became muffled as Kibum leaned down and pressed their lips together again. This time Kibum took his time fitting them together. His tongue traced the seam of Donghae’s lips and when the man gasped in surprise, Kibum took full advantage.

When he pulled back Kibum was still smirking and Donghae looked stunned. He chuckled lightly. “Do you prefer kisses on the nose now?”

Donghae blinked. “You just stole my first kiss with tongue!” he said indignantly. Kibum laughed. Leave it to Donghae to just blurt it out.

“What’s wrong? You didn’t enjoy it?” Kibum joked. Donghae blushed and mumbled something under his breath. “What was that? I couldn’t hear you.”

“I said I didn’t get time to enjoy it,” Donghae said a bit louder.

Kibum smirked. “All you have to do is ask.” Donghae glared as Kibum leaned forward. He pressed his lips together firmly in rebellion and tugged sharply on his wrists in hopes to free them. On top of him, Kibum chuckled again. “Donghae, I am going to kiss you again,” he said lightly and then did just that.

Eunhyuk rubbed his arm as he walked through the forest towards the beach. He couldn’t quite remember at the moment why he had thought it would be a good idea to take extra weapons training with Sungmin. He had never had any formal training, and the lessons in martial arts they were receiving daily weren’t teaching him quickly enough. He had hoped that Sungmin, who was well versed in martial arts, would be able to help him.

It didn’t matter though. Even after four hours spent working, all he could do was successfully was not drop his weapons while receiving blows from an opponent. He supposed that was something, but it wasn’t the progress he wanted. It seemed like everyone was so much farther ahead of him, even Shindong.

’Hi!’ a cheerful voice called, pulling him from his thoughts. He looked up to see Kanja, floating in her orb of water beside him.

“Hello,” he said smiling. It was impossible to be down when she was around.

’Do you want to play with me?’ she asked excitedly as she spun in a tight circle in front of him. He had no idea how she had ever managed to be fierce enough to fight. Maybe she simply smiled the Dark Ones to destruction.

“I’m going to the beach to meet Donghae and Kibum. You can come play with us down there.”

’I love the beach!’ she declared swimming in a loop in the sky. He laughed.

“Me too. I’ll race you!” She laughed in excitement and took off at a fast swim towards the water. He watched her for a moment before running after her as fast as his legs could carry him. Giggling, she let him nearly catch her before she speed up and zipped forward again. Eunhyuk was positive that she could move much faster if she wanted but she was more excited about playing with him.

She stayed just in front of him the entire way to the shore line. Every time he neared her, he would stretch out her fingers and try to touch her. This produced shrill squeals of joy from her and she wiggled out of the way just in time.

By the time they reached the shore line he was panting and was forced to stop on the edge to catch his breath. Sensing he was not immediately behind her she zipped back to him and moved around him once. ’Come on! Race you to the water!’ she said excitedly.

“Need… air…” he panted. She seemed to frown but waited beside him while he regained his breath. While he was waiting for his breath to regulate itself he gazed down the beach. Kibum and Donghae were supposed to be here somewhere. His eyes fell on the mound of sand that somewhat resembled a sandcastle. That meant they should be somewhere close. Sure enough a few feet down the beach he spotted the rest of his team.

Eunhyuk had taken two steps forward before his brain registered exactly what he was seeing. Donghae was on his back pinned beneath Kibum. Both of Donghae’s wrists were held over his head but the man didn’t seem to be bothered by the fact. In fact, judging by the leg that was hooked over Kibum’s hips and the arch of his spine, Donghae was rather enjoying the position.

His band mates mouths were pressed firmly together, meeting frantically, almost as if they were trying to consume each other from the inside out. Kibum’s hand had slipped under Donghae’s shirt and was teasing along his back. Donghae looked torn as to whether to press down into Kibum’s searching fingers or up into his hips. The result was a strange sort of writhing that was likely getting sand in places it wasn’t wanted.

Eunhyuk swallowed slowly. It wasn’t as though Donghae could have known. In fact, Eunhyuk reasoned that he should have expected something like this. It seemed like everyone was getting closer in the past week that they had been here. He suspected that it was something to do with being able to feel the closeness of their relationships. Still, as he looked at them on the sand, he decided that his life was entirely unfair.

He blinked back tears, ashamed that something this stupid could make him tear. There was no need to be emotional, he wasn’t a woman. Yet he couldn’t help what he was feeling and he certainly didn’t want to interrupt Donghae and Kibum in whatever it was they were doing. Instead he turned and ran back the way he had come leaving Kanja entirely confused behind him.

Donghae would have been lying if he had said that he had never imagined what making out with someone would be like, though he had never imagined a guy as the other participant. If asked, he would have to say that his imagination was nothing like the real thing.

It had taken a few minutes to get past the awkward press here and problem of two many limbs in too many places before they had figured out what to do, but once they had Donghae was sure there was nothing like it. The way Kibum’s fingers felt against his skin was indescribable and strange all at the same time. It wasn’t as though Kibum hadn’t touched his bare skin before, he had. In fact Kibum had probably traced the line of his spine on a number of occasions. For a reason that he could not fathom, this time sent his heart racing and made him feel like he was on fire and getting chills all at the same time.

The press of their hips together was equally amazing. He wasn’t an idiot. Donghae knew how the human body worked. He knew that nearly any sensation to that area of his body would be taken as arousing, but he never expected it would fell quite as pleasant as he did.

It was safe to say that Kibum had not only stolen his first intimate kiss but also his second, third, and fourth. After that Kibum’s lips had showed him how sensitive his neck was before returning back to their original positions and Donghae had completely lost count.

Donghae was wondering if he should request the use of his hands when he heard a giggle somewhere above them. He didn’t pay too much attention to the sound since Kibum suddenly pressed his hips down electing a sharp groan from him.

’That looks like an interesting game. Can I play?’ Kanja’s voice asked from just above their heads. Kibum jerked their lips apart and both of them looked up at her.

“Uh hi,” Donghae croaked nervously.

’Hi,’ she replied happily. ‘Are you having fun at your game?’

“Yeah we are,” Donghae said sheepishly. When Kibum shifted to move off him Donghae tightened his leg around the other man’s waist. “Don’t move,” he hissed embarrassed. If Kibum moved the proof of just how much fun Donghae was having would be visible in the front of his jeans. Kibum chuckled and leaned down to press kisses down Donghae’s neck. He released the other man’s wrists finally and slid his hand down Donghae’s arm.

“Not helping,” Donghae groaned out, tipping his head to the side and bearing his neck.

Above them Kanja made a disappointed noise. ’It doesn’t look like there is any more room in your game for anyone else. Maybe that is why the Singer of Water went back home. I don’t know why he had to run though. He should have just asked if he could play.’ she mused.

Donghae’s eyes widened. “Eunhyuk saw?” he asked no one in particular. He shoved at Kibum’s shoulders. “Let me up.”

Kibum lifted his head and gazed down at him. “I’m sure it’s fine. He is probably just shocked to find us like this. No one is going to care.”

“I know but I have to be sure. Let me up,” Donghae had a feeling that if Eunhyuk had run, it could be nothing good.

Kibum sighed and slid off of Donghae’s body. “Go. I’ll be back later,” Kibum told him as he turned his back and faced out at the water.

“Thanks,” Donghae slipped his arms around Kibum’s neck in a brief hug before he rose. “I’ll see you later.”

Kanja watched him leave before circling Kibum, ’Why does no one want to play today?’ she asked, disappointed.

Eunhyuk was sprawled on his bed staring at the ceiling, trying to not think about anything, when he heard the knock at the door. “Come in,” he called. He figured it was Donghae or Kibum since no one usually knocked on doors and they were the only ones who would know something was up.

Sure enough Donghae slipped into the room and closed the door behind him. He stood, just inside the room, hesitantly. “Eunhyuk, about what you saw. I can explain.”

Eunhyuk shook his head, not looking at Donghae. “You don’t need to. It’s ok.”

“I just… I don’t know how it happened,” Donghae said in a rush. “We were just goofing around and they we were kissing and then things just went downhill.”

Eunhyuk sat up on his bed to look at Donghae. “It’s fine. I understand.”

“You do?” Donghae asked.

“Yeah everyone in this place is starting to feel closer or something. Maybe it’s just an effect of the thing with our Songs or maybe we have just all been single too long,” Eunhyuk shrugged.

Donghae let out a breath and moved over to the bed. He sat down behind him and wrapped his arms around Eunhyuk’s shoulders. “Thanks. I was worried that this would make things strange between us.” The other man didn’t say anything; he just stiffened in Donghae’s hold. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” Eunhyuk responded quickly. Donghae knew better.

“Something is. I can almost feel it. You can tell me Hyukjae,” Donghae said softly. Eunhyuk tensed further. His real name so rarely got used that it sounded strange coming from Donghae’s mouth. “You can tell me anything.”

“No I can’t,” he said softly.

“You can.”

“No,” Eunhyuk disagreed. “How can I tell you that I hate that you were kissing Kibum because I want to kiss you?” Eunhyuk’s eyes widened and he clasped his hands over his mouth, blushing.

“That’s what’s wrong?” Donghae asked curiously. He shifted onto his knees and crawled around so that he could face Eunhyuk. “Is that why you are upset?”

“It’s stupid I know,” Eunhyuk muttered turning his face away.

“Only a little,” Donghae agreed with a grin. He placed a finger under Eunhyuk’s chin and then leaned in and pressed their lips together.

AN: Sorry that it took a little over a week, but at least you all had other stuff to read right? This chapter is the first of a set of chapters that slows things down a little again to work on characterization. I don't think anyone will complain too much. ^_^ I just want to let you all know that I may disappear for the next few weeks. It is final and project time around here, that means I might not have too much time to write, but we'll see. It may turn out that I just chose to procrastinate by writing instead... Anyways, as always let me know what you thought!
