I have, for the seventh time, just quit smoking. I am an asshole with NO will power, and this time, two months before my 30th birthday, I am done and will be done. I have tried to figure out many solutions to make this an easy break. I have considered hypnosis. I have considered going to a resort in Napa Valley for people coming off nicotine. ( Read more... )

GAAAaaaaaaah I've been wanting to quit too. I totally sympathize with everything that you're thinking. It's so pointless to wear perfume when all anyone smells is smoke. It's ridiculous to use all these bath products and fabric softeners when you're just going to end up smelling like a stale ashtray anyways. What's the point in my losing 84lbs when i'm just going to die of lung cancer anyways...right?

How about After you've made it for 2 weeks and are done with the detox process, I'll quit...I'll support you now (completely nic'd up) and when it's my turn you can help me (by way of having already done it)

Sound like a plan? ;)

Sounds like a deal, Missy.... Are you going to use the patch? Set your date so you are ready to rock and roll in 2 weeks...

I don't think I really need the patch or anything. Believe it or not I don't have nicotine withdrawels much at all...It's just the habit of having something in my hand. The whole hand to mouth motion, I suppose. When Scot quit he would suck on an unlit cigarette so I think i'll try that...

Date: October 20th

eeeeeep...Is today your first day w/o one? What about David, is He quitting too?

It's a true story, ask Nanny! She really did jump in fully clothed, but I know hypnosis works for me, I had it done. But I can do it, I quit for three months once, I can and will do this....
I don't think I have told you and stories to fuck with you, lovely, everything is true....

OHHH yeah! Now, that one actually was a load of bullshit. It was pretty funny, though. Anyway, I am getting hypnotized tomorrow at 2:00pm by some fellow. He says 9 out of 10 people stop smoking, and most only require one session. Yeee haaa. Keep your fingers crossed.

As silly as this may sound, this is the type of work I do at my company (all sorts of behavior change, smoking cessation being one of them). I am going to send you some stuff to read that may help you a bit. It doesn't quit the smoking for you, but you sound ready and committed to quitting. Perhaps this additional material could be supportive and help you stick with your goal.

I'm thinking of you!

I used to smoke 2 to 3 packs a day of pall mall straights - no filters. quitting wasn't easy. lol i kept changing brands and going to lower strength - when i started liking the new brand, i'd change again. did that about 3 weeks. then i quit. substituted peppermint lifesavers. couldn't drink beer or coffee for a while because they were so related for me. took it hour by hour, literally. i'd find myself in line to buy cigarettes, and tell myself i would wait one more hour. in an hour, i'd tell myself i'd wait one more. after about 4 days, i knew i'd never smoke again because i didn't want to go through quitting again. it's HARD. but you can do it for sure. I LOVE not being tied to it. i don't get sick as often at all. i won't die of emphysema like my old boss did. the people around me won't be exposed - does that help, thinking about their health? i tend to take better care of the people around me than myself.
hmmm how many packs is $3,064? put the money you save in a jar, you can go to europe for way less than that!

Thank you so much... 3 packs a day? Ouch, that was a habit. I am usually about a pack a day, unless we are with friends and partying, then I smke non-stop. Thanks so much for the encouragement, everyone.
