This. I feel like this too, so much bad stuff has happened with friends too, that I find myself just detaching from everyone. Partly because I talk to Laura constantly and partly I'm afraid to bother much with old friends, because they might kick me in the face for my efforts.. ;n;
And I suck with IM's too. I've gotten bad to the point I just log out mid conversation if people are quiet for a while. XD

Artificial friendship bothers me a lot as well. I put a lot of effort and care into my friendships, so it's upsetting when that isn't requited. I think it's important for people to be more mature with one another and just be honest. It's okay if not everyone gets along, or if someone is annoyed by someone else, but the least they can do in that case is just be upfront about it and let the friendship end so everyone can move on with their lives. To pretend to like someone else and just lead them on is such an immature and pointless thing to do, and it's sad to me how much of this goes on (especially online
