community involvement, gaming vs life

Last night I went to my Neighorhood Association's board meeting. Open to the public, once a month, on the second Tuesday of the month. Pretty darned interesting things happening there. Strangely, I had what usually happens to me when I go to a new organization. They asked me to be Vice President. WTF? Maybe after seeing what goes on for a ( Read more... )

I heard from a witness of the event (my friend animoctipus speaking of her fiancé, who was sitting next to her and nodded half-shamefully and half-zombie-ishly) that Disgaea will suck you in and never let you out. But they have also found that World of Warcraft is a reliable antagonist competitor.

Neat!
Considering that WoW has lost its appeal (particularly at $15/mo) that this eBay purchase will be well worth my money!

Remeber to let the power of neighborhood watch consume you. Get a hat with a star on it and a bat and go rough up those damn skate kids, it's good for the neighborhood in the long run. Also, get free stuff from the local 7-11.

I think we stole our icon from the same place.

So what's so hilarious that they wanted me to be VP? :-P I can be responsible and shit!

Disgaea is a fun game but, alas, FF Tactics tainted me forever. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it- I did while I played it. Have you checked out X-Men Legends II? The first one was great.

Is a Neighborhood Association the same thing as a Homeowners Association(HOA)?

X-Men Legends II is getting some good reviews! I hope it's as good as the first one. I like the turn based, tile based system that Disgaea has. And I never really played FF Tactics. :-P Did it taint you in a good way? It's a PS1 game, isn't it?

Maybe that link doesn't explain what it is. Portland is made up of Neighborhoods, each with their own association. I guess it's simlar to a Homeowner's Association, but you don't have to be the owner to join. Just live in the neighborhood.

You know, The Arcade Fire's Neighborhood (#1 Tunnels) and all.

FF Tactics did taint me in a good way. It is one of the best turn-based strategy games I've ever seen. And yes, it is a PS1 game. I'm surprised they didn't make a sequel.

They did make a sequel. FF Tactics Advance for the GBA. I don't know much about it, though.

Oh, and Disgaea is hilarious and fun.
