community involvement, gaming vs life

Last night I went to my Neighorhood Association's board meeting. Open to the public, once a month, on the second Tuesday of the month. Pretty darned interesting things happening there. Strangely, I had what usually happens to me when I go to a new organization. They asked me to be Vice President. WTF? Maybe after seeing what goes on for a while - terms of service are for two years at a time. Until recently, I couldn't even plan half that far ahead!

Unfortunately, as I had that meeting, my regularly scheduled RPG session, and plenty of "normal" activities for the evening, I didn't get everything done that I wanted to get done. But I did get a good night's sleep. I wonder if that's worth it?

I didn't get to start Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, the latest David Weber's Honor Harrington book (for me at least), or the new book my brother sent me as a birthday present. Nor did I get to talk with robyscots about her day as much as I would have liked!

It seems that despite their (read: Rachel's) hard work, Profile's first shows aren't very good. Or it could be because a certain reporter tried to review two plays at the same time? I wonder how complete a picture one can get without staying for the completion of either? :D OOOH!

Fortunately, I have the bus ride home to read David Weber, time before dinner to start Disgaea, and time during and after dinner with Rachel. Still, it's kind of nice to be so busy one day that you have to schedule around it.

Oh, and the neighborhood organization? I liked being involved. I knew more about the tech discussion, and general laws, etc, than many neighbors. Maybe I should get more involved? At the very least, I'm going to the citizen's police involvement meeting the first Tuesday of next month.
