I'm currently translating some terms/short sentences for a risk analysis software.
The German version was written by Mr. A and we'll simply import the English version/translation and get it all in English.

Problem sentence:
Verletzungen durch Ausgleiten, Ausrutschen und Stürzen auf rutschigen Oberflächen.

Where is the difference between

To a foreign ear, Ausgleiten sounds better. As you say, they have the same meaning...I wonder, why use two words when one will do?

Maybe they're trying to take into account different usage in different parts of Germany?

Maybe this is a stylistic choice and the translator thinks it makes his art sound better! *g*
