As promised, here is where my money went to. And this is really just what I bought for myself. The goods of others (which I still have with me) are NOT included.
I have the Happy Bathday Hand Lotion and I absolutely love it!! It's a nice rose scent, not too strong and it makes my hands shooo soft! And those phone straps are really cute!
Any good tips on how to send stuff cheaply to Germany? I'll probably hae quite some (maybe heavy) stuff as well that won't fit in the 20kg weight limit anymore that I'll have to send home. And what did you put for "Absender" and what did you write on the green tx thingy? I mean, it's your own stuff you're sending to yourself, so it's not really "gifts" either, is it? And what value did you put? Sorry, I know this is a lot of questions I'm having, but I was wondering about this for a while ^^"
Thank you ^^ Still need to try the hand lotion, but seems I'll really love it ^^
Sending stuff to yourself... first only write your own address in Germany in the "to" field and then ask the people at the post office, if they want the address of the hotel or if it's okay if you enter some other address in Germany (because you'll be leaving in two days... whatever) This time (for EMS) they wanted the hotel address, but said to write a German cell phone number in case there are question, once the parcel is in Germany.
Please take care: For EMS you are NOT allowed to send chocolate and lots of other food. The custom requires you to write down everything that is in the parcel, so maybe it's better to take the risk and send omiyage and other food as small parcel (under 2 kg). I sent two small parcels this time.
For stuff you send to yourself... either "gift" or "personnel item" (depending on the options they give you) And FAKE the custom declaration when it comes to the value. Max. 2500 yen -.-;;;
Oh yes, please do try it soon! I got complimented how nice my hands smell ^.^
And thank you for your tips!! EMS is cheaper than SAL? Or is that the same thing? I hope sending things won't be too expensive... And where do I get packaging material? Also, did you send any magazines or books? Because they kinda have the price written on them ^^"
I send it as small parcel = airmail (should hopefully only take 1-2 weeks) and airmail = cheaper than EMS (if it's under 2 kg). HUGE parcels with EMS will cost you a fortune ;_;
If you send books or magazines, of course they are all "used" and thus cheaper ^^;;;; Post office sells boxes in three sizes, the rest you can find at Tokyu Hands (huge department store). Good luck though, with finding the right floor there ^^;;;; But yeah, Tokyu Hands has everything ^^;;;
What kind of food is that Hello Kitty Takarazuka? Do they sell other Hello Kitty Takarazuka goods?
When I would go to Japan, I fly either JAL or KL for the baggage allowance since American carriers suck:) Anyway, I get 40 kg --2 luggages + 10 kg handcarried items. Usually, I bring one close to empty suitcase. Returning, I have to buy another suitcase--max out my 50 kg limit and also send stuff to myself^^ by either sea mail or FEDEX's 10 and 25 kg boxes:)
Uhm... still have to open the HK food... cookies, I think? Can't really remember ^^;;; But yes, lots of HK Takarazuka goods. Phonestraps and such. Stationary, I think... Anyway, there was quite a bunch in the shop ^^
JAL only goes from the very south of Germany and is SO much more expensive, but I think most airlines leaving from Europe only allow 20 kg, not sure though... but then again, with 50 kg I would DEFINITELY buy TOO much ^^;;; And I'm through with Fedex in Germany, but after they messed up the custom declaration for Amazon and made me pay LOTS of unneccassary money... no way -.-;;; Normal small parcel (airmail) has to do ^^;;;
Lucky you, that you can bring so many kgs home with you ^^
