Such are the characteristics of a hero, someone who believes in actions rather than just words. <33333333333333333333
And the fact that RIB are going this way with him ... that they are making him the leader of an army (!) ... says that they're onto it too.
And we all know the hero gets the girl in the end, right?!?
(unless he's a tragic hero, of course ... but there's no room in Glee for tragic heroes; is there?)
There goes merlenhiver again, dreaming ... ;)

Still curious to see what's going to prompt this change in behaviour though ... Kurt, anyone? ;)

If that's true, I'd love to see how they'll pull it off without completely butchering Dave's character.
Mostly I just hope he's trolling.

Cory had mentioned blackmail. What if, say, in Night of Neglect, Santana finds out that he's gay, and blackmails him into doing this? She wants Kurt to come back, yeah, but mostly she just wants a safer environment so that she can come out and maybe then she can win Brittany back. So in order to not lose control of his secret, Dave has to do what Santana says.
If this is the case then it wouldn't just be a random 180 in his character. It does less for the redemption case than him doing this on his own, but hey, maybe once he does it he starts to like being the good guy. Like when he joined Glee...he had to be forced to do it, but once he did, he liked it. Maybe after he does it for a while Strando or Cooper or someone confronts him about it, and he realizes that he's got acceptance from other people at school besides the jocks now, and that gives him the strength to come out. (I still hold by my hope that Azimio either has already guessed or won't care when he finds out).

(And yes, understanding!Azimio pretty please, RM? *Prays to the Glee gods of fandom.)

They handled Dave beautifully in that episode and he showed the world, though the haters didn't See it, that there's a soul inside the big, angry package, and a scared little boy desperate for acceptence.
I think there's hope that this WILL be handled right.
Not that I'm not crossing my fingers (and toes) all the same, just in case...

AMEN to that. I think there's reason to be cautiously optimistic here, while not getting our hopes up too high.

THIS makes much more sense. I don't know about other people, but I actually LIKE to have some continuity (bad word! bad word!) on Glee and Dave suddenly doing a 180 and wanting all the bullying to stop at McKinley just doesn't ring true. Even if, God forbid, he were to somehow be outed (which I do not believe will happen) I still do not see Dave happily patrolling the hallways of McKinley (sorry, merienhiver, just a clear agree to disagree difference in how I perceive Dave's character) to stop all bad things happening in his presence.
Santana somehow glomming onto Dave's secret and then blackmailing him into doing something like this; that is some sort of Glee plot that I recognize. Dave actually seeing the light and realizing ( ... )

I'm honestly not expecting the next episodes to make any more sense than the last five, and that includes Dave's character development. So bring it on, RIB, while I'll find my peace in fanfiction. ;)
