Calling all scifi fans

I want feedback about interest in a possible project.  This is about Mass Effect, but it's not limited to fans of Mass Effect, and in fact is targeted more at people who don't know the story

For those who don't know, Mass Effect is a series of 3 video games.  They are extremely plot based.  The plot is a big, huge, epic space opera which is ( Read more... )

please give me feedback or i'll be a sad, poll, mass effect

It sounds interesting and I *know* it has an awesome soundtrack. ;) I'm intrigued by this idea of yours.

I am too! The biggest thing, I think, will be figuring out the editing. In the first game in particular there are a lot of side missions and things that you should do because you get stuff that helps, but a lot of them don't add anything to the overall plot and some of them get very repetitive. 2 and 3 have a lot more plot/character relevant side stories, so that's not so bad.

I would be WAY interested in this!! I'd say edit and comment on it in whatever way is easiest for you, don't really have a preference.

Hey, if even 1 person is interested I'll probably do it, lol. I just have to figure out the tech. Which I think I have, I just have to, you know, test it.

This sounds awesome! I've heard enough to be really interested in the plot, but I know nothing about gaming so it's a little overwhelming to jump into.

And whatever works for you on editing. :)

Yay, I'm glad there's interest. And yes, it's intimidating to get into. Even have some experience with gaming, it was a lot to learn. I have a real life friend who got me into it and there was lots of asking her things and having her show me things to figure out how to not die all the time, lol.

Yes! This would be great. I still haven't decided if I should get it or not, and seeing this would be very helpful. I don't want to say whether you should talk or not during the videos, but I'm a little worried that might distract me, hehe.

I'm leaning towards not talking, if only because that makes the tech part of recording that much more complicated and I'm lazy, lol. I might do some of the 'unnecessary for the plot but good to do because it gets you things' assignments separately with commentary, as they're not as much fun to watch, but fun to snark on.

YAAAAAY. MASS EFFFECT. MAAAASSSSS EFFFEEEECCCCCCT.

I play on Xbox so I don't know how to make a screencast, or I'd probably have done something like that myself, if only so that I could have vidded my own damn Shepard instead of the generic one! I'd love to see you play the game.

I voted to edit the shit out of it to make it like a TV show because I think the action bits are more fun to play through than to watch and if the plan is to share the storyline with people then it'd probably be better to edit down the action a little and cut some of the fighting out. However! Then you asked about verbal commentary. I think that talking over cut scenes is bad again because the plan is to share the story. But also, verbal commentary is luzly and entertaining! And possibly insightful and entertaining! So...I guess I'm in favour of the commentary if you're not cutting down the action parts? But if you are, then I'm not sure... Try it and see if it's distracting? <-- look how useful I am. *facepalm* ;)

Yeah, I think I'll leave in some of the action, but trim it down. Guns are fun, to a point, but not necessarily watching wave after wave after wave. And in 1 especially, there's no reason to include a lot of the plot-unnecessary side assignments. Watching the Mako on the required missions will be bad enough (and probably edited way down), no one needs to see me running around on a bunch of suspiciously similar planets to pick up probes. Although some of those side missions could be done in a separate video that I snark on. Or something. IDK. I'll probably have to figure it out as I go to a certain extent.
