Nell was excited about meeting the great man Yachiru had so happily talked to her about. She obediently followed Yachiru's instruction and took the paddle-ball thing with her (Nell could never get more than a few good bounces in before she missed; maybe Ken-chan could show her how to do it right). Her hair was about as neat as the soft curls would allow it to be under Yachiru's hands (which wasn't very, but at least they had tried - it was the thought that counted!).

Debriefed and decent, Nell easily kept up with Yachiru's speed down the halls, her socked feet just barely keeping traction on the smooth floors (she figured if she was gonna look nice, she'd keep her smelly little feet out of sight).

For the moment, Kenpachi was... doing very little, really, which had been an odd feeling when he'd first been dragged into this place, but was slowly becoming more normal. Before, he'd had very little in the way of leisure time -- working, and finding various ways to augment the petty earnings he got from those jobs, and taking care of Yachiru, had all eaten into his free time. But now, after spending a few weeks completely isolated from the rest of the asylum except for the workers who brought him meals and cleaned, he'd learned how to be bored. It mostly involved staring at the wall and thinking, which was really not his strong suit.

Soon, though, he heard the distinctive sound of Yachiru's footsteps in the hall -- there was no one who moved quite like her -- accompanied by another, unfamiliar set of footsteps that obviously belonged to another child. That'd be her friend Nell, he guessed, and turned his head toward the open -- open!!! -- door to wait for them to arrive.

"Okee Nell-belle, now jus' remember that Ken-chan's been in solertairy for a while so's it's been a while since he's seen anyone. He might be bored so's it's our job ta help him be not bored!" Yachiru had no idea what a bored Ken-chan might be like since she could never remember him complaining about such a thing, but from what she'd heard it wasn't fun for anyone. The idea of Ken-chan being stuck someplace completely unfun was just horrible to her.

Pausing before they actually got to Ken-chan's room, Yachiru made one last effort to fix her hair and give Nell a once-over. Nodding in a satisfied manner, she approached the door and looked ready to knock when she saw the door was already open. Still, to be polite since she heard adults liked that type of thing, she paused and called out to get his attention.

"Heya Ken-chan! Me an' Nell-belle are here ta play!"

The nickname made him chuckle quietly -- he always enjoyed hearing the creative ways Yachiru dubbed anyone she deemed worthy of her attention. "C'mon in, been waitin' for ya girls," he called out, stretching a bit and nodding; the bells in his hair chimed softly. He'd left the door open mostly to enjoy the sheer fact of it being open, and to keep an eye on anyone who passed by in the hall.

Truth be told, he'd been looking forward to this. As Yachiru and Nell came into view, he offered them his best "nice" grin -- a past employer (who'd fired him for picking fights, like most of them did) had told him that unless he made a serious effort, his grin made him look like he was picking who to eat first. So he was making an effort, so that Yachiru wouldn't be upset with him for scaring her friend.

"Mmhm!" Nell nodded emphatically. Being bored was no fun at all! And Nell was ready and willing to help anybody not be bored in any way she could manage. She preferred smiles and laughing over anything else.

Nell nearly slid into Yachiru when the other girl paused but was able to keep herself upright. She obediently stood still as Yachiru looked her over.

For all of Yachiru's talk of him, Kenpachi did not disappoint Nell's expectations. The man was certainly imposing at best, but whether due to Yachiru's own admiration for him or Kenpachi's appearance (a smile was a smile, and hey - the man had bells in his hair; total win in Nell's book).

Suddenly struck with the need to say something and be polite, Nell hastily blurted out, "Hello Kenchan! Nell ith pleathed to meet you!" with an awkward bow.
