It's hair day!

It's also some kind of fundraiser at the Mint today, where everyone's supposed to dress up like the 20's. I don't really have the energy for this, and it's been a bad food week, so I might just wear a lot of black and throw my fedora on top of it ( Read more... )

I wonder if by today's standards, the "ultra-violence" is hardly anything though.

I watched it a few years ago and I can easily say the violence but is mild by today's standards. Well, there are people who say that even by today's standards the scenes of violence are way over the top, but I disagree.

I've never seen it, but there are certain things I don't want to put myself through. Straw Dogs would be another one,

I am SO GLAD you are sticking it out with Buffy. I think Spike's character is at its absolute funniest in series 4. Series 1 was cute, but it didn't really get going until series 3 for me. Best thing about the show is how much you can love the "bad" guys as much as the good ones. The villains have a lot of depth and humour in the coming seasons. Campy at its best, with a bit of drama thrown in to catch you off guard.

Ok, fangirl gushing ends now. I haven't seen anything else you mentioned in your post,so I am inadequate...

I'm looking forward to more seasons, although if Angel really has his soul back, I'm going to have to count on Spike for the good snark, which he seems more than capable of delivering. I'm still glad I wasn't around for the Buffy wars. I still pretty much ship Angel/Giles and thought the torture scene was pretty damn hot.

Don't see it. The Barry Lyndon thing. It has been a while, but I also saw it at a Kubrik film festival with 2001 and Clockwork. It was a reeeeeally looooong night. If you know what I mean. I think the experience tainted me because I don't like his movies, and have no appreciation for his reeeeeelly loooong pans. So except for Strangelove and Spartacus you can keep him.

"don't I know you?"
"You hit me with an ax once. Remember, Stay away from my daughter?"

Too too funny.

2001, Clockwork and Barry Lyndon in one sitting? Good lord, that would kill anyone. I think Kubrick is a director I've had to grow into, much like Altman.

Well compared to all the self-indulgent drivel that Angel was prone to, ab-so-bloody-lutely. I still think that David Boreanz must thank his lucky stars everyday he's on the Bones set that he doesn't have to deal with that stuff anymore.

I was very happy to see the back of Spike's blonde head when he made his re-appearance in Season 4. Although Beer Bad had to be the one of the worst episodes so far.
