It's hair day!

It's also some kind of fundraiser at the Mint today, where everyone's supposed to dress up like the 20's. I don't really have the energy for this, and it's been a bad food week, so I might just wear a lot of black and throw my fedora on top of it.

Yeaterday, I got the goddess nails done as well as an eyebrow wax and pedicure. Then we went to Chow for brunch and afterwards walked up to the Castro to see Barry Lyndon on the big screen. Kubrick festival going on. We could have stayed for A Clockwork Orange, but I didn't think I could handle it. I wonder if by today's standards, the "ultra-violence" is hardly anything though.

I think Barry Lyndon has a lot of bad raps on it. I always remember reading how it was boring and static and nothing happens and Marisa Berensen can't act. None of that is true. It's actually a beautiful, witty (especially in the first half), wonderful piece of film-making with some great performances and absolutely wonderful music, some of it by the Chieftans.

Ryan O'Neal though? Not up to it, to the extent that he couldn't maintain his Irish accent for more than a few minutes at a time at any point in the movie. Apparently Robert Redford was the first choice and I think he would have been much better, especially at looking suitably young in the early scenes, even though he was actually older than O'Neal at the time.

Lot's of potential slash for those with a mind to see it. Redmond/Chevalier OTP! Plus kinky caning with Redmond/Lord Bullingdon. Is there fic anywhere? (Although I do wish the one "canon slash" moment hadn't been quite so stereotypically swishy.)

I was impressed by how many people were there and for the applause during the credits including a well deserved round for the wig-maker.

Came home and finished out the last two discs of Buffy, Season II. OMG---Spike in the living room with Buffy's mom. Too funny. I was so happy to see Spike getting out of the chair and getting all his mojo back.

I've got the new Dr. Who for tonight...CAN NOT WAIT. I think this is make-or-break episode for this series. If you can't put _____ ____ and _________ ________ together and get a good episode, something is really wrong.

I have faith in the Moff.

Still working on typing up Chapter 8, and making some long-term plot decisions. To kill or not to kill?
