So when I was in college one of my philosophy profs forced us to watch Buffy and write "deep" papers on it. I hate that show. It makes me want to set stuff on fire.
My condolences! It's just bizarre to be getting into it so late. I'd almost like to get obsessed the way you need one ear-worm to cure another. I'd rather be fighting a dead shipwar than the ugly one that's about to rip my heart out with the impending character assasination and castration.
But I don't think that's gonna happen.
BFF Jen is/was a massive Spike/Buffy person and I was able to use the Marsters love to get her into Torchwood, which I actually now kind of regret. My former internet soul-mate was a Buffy person, but strangely enough I don't hold that against the show.
(Not that I'm sane or anything. One of the reasons I hate SPN is because she walked away from House fandom when she got into it.)
Buffy doesn't get really awesome until the third season. I frankly think the whole first season is skippable, but about half of the second season is OK, and there's some good mytharc there.
I think hubby is started to get the idea of how much adolescent angst we have to go through in any episode to get to the "good stuff." The problem is that we've sort of got mutual OCD-ness when it comes to getting into shows.
NCIS was sort of an exception because he started picking up stray episodes when he was stuck in the nursing home and it really didn't seem what order they were in anyway.
I love Willow's actress Alyson Hannigan on How I Met Your Mother. She gets to have lots of sex on the floor and be slapbet commissioner. Plus she got to see her fiancee get kissed by another man. She loves to watch.
"UP" is relative. Apparently he's been "Up" enough to do dishes, which is awesome, but worries me because how you stand up to do dishes without putting weight on the foot.
Yeah, the teen stuff is definitely eye-roll annoyance material for me, although I like Joss's stated premise that High School is a horror show, whethere there are "real" monsters or not, because I certainly concur.
We're four episodes in, and hubby has expressed a certain amount of disgust with himself while watching the cheerleader episode. Apparently Sarah Michelle Gellar had more disturbingly appealing in her cheerleader outfit than Hayden Panitierre did in hers.
RE: Cab driver--I didn't even mention the bandana, hat and amazing amount of tattoos that were visible.
Four episodes into Buffy, still not madly impressed, although younger Boreanz was definitely hot. I'm more "ship-building" conscious, so I can see how and why I'm supposed to be getting pulled into the relationship and therefore feel resistant. Also, my personal kinks are more prone to going for the father/daughter stuff so Giles/Buffy is way more appealing.
I definitely had a crush on Anthony Head going back to the coffee days, and I actually had to remind hubby of School Reunion before he recognized the actor. DUH!!!
Aside from the people who are squicked by literal incest ships, which I can understand in theory, I have a major beef with people who try to deny ships (cough cough Jack/Owen, cough cough Jack/Gwen) by saying : OH he would never have sex with him/her because he only thinks of them as a son/daughter/brother/sister. GRRRRRRRRRR
I'm long past being young enough to be a younger woman in that kind of ship, but it's still a big turn-on for me. (TMI?)

O.O
Hope you enjoy Buffy. I loved it at the time, although I feel like I'm a little past the 'teen' thing now. Giles is still gorgeous, though.
Yay for hubby! Maybe he'll be, you know, UP soon ;)
