Don't forget that Richard E Grant actually did the voice of the Doctor in Scream of the Shalka.

It's nice when stuff like that happens, though, isn't it? Like life is giving you a tiny little freebie.

I had no idea there was a Richard E. Grant/Who connection. That's like even more icing on a fabulously wonderful cake. He's also prominent in one of the fandoms I wrote for Yuletide. I think I've loved him ever since Henry & June, although I'm probably one of the few people I know in fandom who isn't 100% in love with Withnail & I.

But the Burn thing just blew me away. Literally looking at the screen and then at hubby "OMG, is that Burn Gorman?" I just had no idea.

It's rather good but very often overlooked. And sad to say I know very little of Richard E Grant. I loved him in the Scarlet Pimpernel and he is very charismatic. I think I have seen Withnail and I once, but I honestly couldn't recall any of the plot anymore, much less a critique.

He was also adorable when he did QI, which earns mega-bonus points.

Nice to see someone else liked the Xmas special too. I mean, yeah, the gender politics sucked, but as you say with the Rose obsession, I just take that as a given with RTD. David Morrissey and David Tennant were totally a hoot together. I really hope BBCAmerica reruns Viva Blackpool one of these days. You'd think they would, with Tennant's popularity.

Hi Sweetie! I was sort of waiting for Miss Hartigan to break into a few verses of Pirate Jenny, while hubby was sort of OMG-Whatshername from BallyKissAngel! (Hubby was massive Bally-K fan.)

I would love to see Viva Blackpool, although as with Barrowman, I think there's still a wide gap between the popularity in the UK and here. I'm still getting the martian look when I try to do Barrowmania conversions.

You were not alone in the Wizard of Oz references. I just forgot to mention them in my post. :-)

The balloon, the costume, the whole grandiose delivery all sort of screamed Wizard of Oz, didn't they, and even the revelation of being a "humbug."

Stephen Morrissey? Is there a Stephen Collins/David Morrissey cross-wire in your brain? Understandable if so. I've fallen quite hard back into SoP obsessiveness. And there's a few nice Yuletide fics too... :Dd

I liked the Christmas show, and I thought Morrissey and Tennant had fantastic chemistry. The pair of them are just stellar. I can hardly remember if anyone else was in it - they just outshine them all.

ARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH

Total crosswire and post now corrected.

I think it has something to do with the fact that when I think of "Stephen Collins," I think of the American actor, which confuzzles me when thinking of the SoP character name.

Or I'm just a dork.

Not a dork. Just confused. Which is a state of mind I can totally relate to. I frequently mix up two actors names into a whole new one, or just spoonerise them so they sound stupid. My brain works in mysterious ways...

Ooooh, unanticipated Burn-appareance! That is a nice surprise indeed! I will look out for this movie, thanks!

It's an interesting premise sort of based on a true story and Malkovich does interesting things with various accents, but for me the real fun was all the appearances in the small parts, and especially Burn right in the first scene.

I actually need to see Layer Cake again, since I watched it before I saw Torchwood and can't for the life of me remember what Burn actually did, although I know he's in there.
