Those stories are universal, no matter what universe you come from and the boy he was had believed every single one of them. Heroes and castles. Damsels in distress. Glory to be won.
The Time Agency gave him that and took away more than he’d even known he had.
Now he had a planet to defend and a girl so pretty it hurt to look at her, who was strong enough to rescue him when necessary.
He loved her, even though she couldn’t save him from himself.
Not even the Doctor could do that.
