Thanks to everybody who attended either as a writer or a reader.

You guys are awesome and I love you!

First things first, a bit of pimpage. If you only attended the first two or three nights you might have missed some awesome costumes. People were showing up until the very last minute posting stories, so PRETTY PLEASE go back, and see if you ( Read more... )

I didn't join in as much as I'd have liked (I was hoping to do a fic, but medical crap intervened), but I enjoyed it anyway.

I'd definitely say do it again!

YAY! I think you've been with me all three years, right? Always glad to have you. I think people's lives were super-hectic this year. More than usual at this time of year, even. But I would like to do it again. Just to force myself to do the writing. Although I'm never doing that kind of fic again.

This was my first year so I just stuck with the stuff I was familiar with (I'm a little shy) which was all just dandy. And I think I cheated on my costume just a little what with the fall back to slash in what started out trying to be an out and out het story but no-one seemed to mind so that was okay :D (I blame John, boy that man has a mouth on him!)

And my second costume is still being stitched. Luckily I am from a town where a man can wear gold lame in the street and no-one looks twice so I shall be wearing that one as soon as it is done and parading up and down a comm or two ;-)

I don't know...I read the Feedback Meme stuff, and I kinda have to agree. I mean, I'm a big Torchwood fan, but the stuff you put in your headers doesn't make me want to read your stories.

I'd have listened to more music if you put it on Yousendit rather than Sendspace - I can only get one song from SP at a time, and it's slower than YSI. But I had fun coming to it, and being able to dress up like that.

That's the one critique I actually think has some merit, and if you noticed the most recent fic has none of those warnings at all. And is getting hardly any comments. Presumably I could have tweaked the header to promise more J/I and gotten more readers, but that's really not what the story's about.

I'm a sendspace gal. End of story. That's where I started and that's what works for me.

Thanks for attending in your fabulous costumes. Glad you enjoyed.

Just the one about the warnings? Not about overzealous simplified characterizations? Because something that common probably has some truth to it.

In regard to headers, I just put in the minimum amount of information with as little personal details as possible, and let the work stand on its own merits. Seems to be working so far.

It's a matter of convenience for the people downloading - maybe you could do a poll to see if the rest of the audience cares or it's just me.

Yup. No more warnings. Everybody's on their own from now on.

Even if it's a "J/I" story that references Jack building shrines to Gwen's beauty or imagining in graphic detail how much he'd rather be screwing Owen every time Ianto offers him a cup of coffee.

Mostly I track the downloads. If I hear a massive outcry against Sendspace, I'll reconsider.

I want to start by giving you a big thank you for throwing the party. I think I might have already done that one drunken night ( I seem to remember snogging and dancing and something about an omnisexual bartender) but hey, as the voices in my head always tell me, you can never suck up say thank you enough.

Next, I do have to get back in and finish reading, thanks for the poke!

What was it like to write "out of character?" Hard? Easy? Scary? Do you want to do it again next year? Do you never want to do it again as long as you live?A little of all of those things. The act of pushing my self to finish something was tough and kind of scary. Then trying to stay truer to the idea of the party I went with a POV that was one I have never written in. That was great ( ... )

Thanks for attending. I'll make a definite note of the bar-tender shortage and attempt to upgrade the liquor next time.

And don't worry about that thing with the bartender. What happens at the Chelsea Drugstore stays at the Chelsea Drugstore.

I'm going to copy/paste the questions and answer them :)

What was it like to write "out of character?" Hard? Easy? Scary?

Mostly interesting. I try to challenge myself all the time to write new characters/pairing/genres, making it sometimes hard to decide what to do here but there's always something - standbys of pairings I have never written. I was going to do two stories but the time just ran out.

Do you want to do it again next year?

Most definitely.

Did you listen to any of the music or were you too busy looking at costumes?

I only downloaded the Nick Lowe stuff but I think I'm in love ;)

Were there fandoms you'd never read before that you gave a try or did mostly stick to what you were already familiar with?

I'm still reading through - I just haven't had time to do it yet. But I'm enjoying reading them very much. I'm mostly reading stuff I have at least a passing acquaintance with.

Should I do it again next year? If so, what should I change if anything?Yes. Make it a two week party? That's the only thing I can think of ( ... )

Two weeks? Really? Hmmmm. We did get the last minute stragglers, but I got the feeling MOST people had tuned out by the last few days.

I'll start uploading all my Nick Lowe albums and PM the links to you when they're ready. I have pretty much everything except Nick The Knife and an EP called "Bowi," which he put out in response to Davie Bowie's "Low."

(One of the things I love most about Nick is his sense of humour. Who else would have written a psuedo Beach Boys song about Marie Provost.)
