I killed my husband's toaster....

It wasn't deliberate and I bore the toaster no ill-will. I quite liked it, actually ( Read more... )

Hurray for the cancellation!

Have to share my dream from last night. There were a lot of people living in a house and the guy in charge of making breakfast left in the middle while leaving all the appliances on. There were two electric griddles sitting on the stove. One cooking eggs and something in the other (the stove was on too). One began smoking and the other went up in flames before my eyes. I was able to shut everything down, pull the plugs, and the fire conveniently went out.

Btw, my fabulous slender Krups one-slot, variable thickness toaster of 20 years gave up the ghost a few months ago. I was aghast at prices for a similar one. Replaced it with a cheap, slightly chunky, Cuisinart 2-slot (variable thickness) from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Instalove at first slice.

Mrrrrow-bearded RSL-nice.

Part of me thinks if I'd just been willing to sit with the stress for two days, the cancellation would have happened and no one the wiser, but if I did something different the universe might have gone the other way too. Magical thinking is a bitch, let me tell ya.

Creepy prescient dreams FTW!

Hubby is fond of the sleek, if over-priced, models being sold at Williams-Sonoma. He likes to pretend he's the kind of person who would actually cook a recipe in a Williams-Sonoma cook-book.

Happy birthday! I once accidentally melted a pot to the burner of an electric stove AND blew up the eggs I was hard boiling inside it. My house smelled so horrid for weeks after. And it was one of my favorite pots.

You may remember my burnt-egg incident from This post.

I'm honestly a menace in the kitchen and elsewhere due to flakiness.

Mine might be worse cause I am ususally good in the kitchen. Massive mistakes seem worse then... ;)

Nom nom! Thanks sweetie! It's just such a STUPID thing to have done because I'm a ditz. I dreamed about you last night...I think you were trying to come live with us and move all your stuff into my apartment, which honestly, I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Lol! I don't know how my stuff fits into a single room. But hopefully that will be time-limited - very early days yet but I've been looking at estate agents' websites rather a lot recently.
