Poor Vance! I'd figured after that whole Casablanca conversation that there must be some Gibbs/Vance out there, but I was pretty sure that Vance/SECNAV was a territory all my own.

I really like this - where do you come up with these interesting ideas? I absolutely loathe Jarvis, and I'm still on the fence about Vance. They deserve each other...;)

I was more out of my depth than usual, but there's one angle I could relate very much to, the fact that as you grow older, it's harder to stay hidden, to go unnoticed. Hence, also harder to negotiate the beginning of a relationship, when you're not sure yet it'll go anywhere.

It's especially hard when you're the Director of NCIS and the Secretary of the Navy. I just thought it would be fun to imply something between two men of a certain age, both of whom would be risking a lot if they were found out.
