Thanks! Canton is (so far) a one-off character from New Who. He's working as a Secret Service man for Richard Nixon in 1969. And oh yeah, he's gay. He's played by Mark Sheppard, who is one of those guys who turns up in EVERYTHING, including an NCIS episode. (He was in Broken Bird playing Young Mr. Pain.)

Good point! I never even stopped to think that Canton was being left in a time when there were still Silents. That's gotta be creepy for him.

Thanks! I think Canton is a great example of the ones the Doctor leaves behind who have to go on living with what they've learned, but without the presence of the Doctor in their lives to help make sense of it.
