You are undebatably one of the most ♥♥♥-inducing people on my flist.
I too am high on hating random family members. Let us flail lovingly at each other and throw p0rn!
Also, you have to tell me how you're organising the trip. I feel a bit of a bastard for making you relive the trauma, but I'd really like to hear how you manage logistics, what kind of guidebooks you use, etc.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ on the Pere. Sorry I couldn't reply last night - I basically passed out. xD Well, not literally, but there you go.
Ebil family = ebil. Ignore them with much ignoring.
Trip? Well, to Toronto I'm basically just up-ing and going, seeing as how I have friends there. Japan was more complicated; a lot of reading around and buying train tickets and I can email you that stuff if you want~
You're going to read the Bible!?!?? YAAAAAAAAY!! I recommend Genesis, the first half of Exodus, basically all of the Ketuvim, especially Job and anything about David or Solomon. And then Matthew and definitely Romans and Corinthians 1 and GALATIANS and Thessalonians 1 and Revelation. Oh, and Philemon! :D I will answer all your Paul-related questions and can tell you which ones he didn't write!!
I don't like John or the Prophets but actually I think you might enjoy them. Just. . . don't come to me for help. XD I can help you with Leviticus more than the Prophets. Stay away from Deuteronomy if you can. :D
I dont' know why I'm assuming you will be consulting me on this. XD I just. . . I paid so much money to study this! XD
Yep! After a long conversation with my parents about my failing to get Christianity, they've eased up a bit and now I feel much, much more comfortable reading the book as myself as opposed to "kid who is getting coerced into believing". 8D But man, I do love the historicity of the text in addition to the moral/religious base material, so YAY THAT I HAVE YOU TO SNUGGLE UP TO WHEN THE NAMES AND OLD-TIME-PLACES START TO GET CONFUSING.
\o Did you study a certain edition? The one I have is sadly not KJV, and sounds kind of D: sometimes, so I may just interwebz my way through this.
Oops, I got this comment notification when I couldn't respond and then forgot. D:
I read the Harper Collins Study Bible, which I ADORE. :D :D :D It has little subject headers like "Jesus heals the man with dropsy" and "Sexual immorality defiles the chuch." I once made an LJ friend because we both loved the HCSB. But I've used a couple of others - the key is the New Revised Standard Version translation. It's not as literary as the KJV but it doesn't lie through it's teeth.
I'm heading to Toronto in December with my own bad self (hoping not to die on my first solo), and then down to Tokyo later in January with a coupla friends. 8D 8D
I am the bastard sibling of also, for I am done to death.

The bible is fun, if you let yourself skim when you want to. It's also a lot more interesting reading Pratchett and Gaiman first, and then reading the bible; a little bit like seeing the Simpson's version of Space Odyssey 2001 and then seeing the real version, and going: OHHHHHHH, so that's what they meant.
