We found an apartment in Austin, and our landlord gave us an awesome deal with a little help from the Red Cross. Three months for $400, which is as close to free as we need. We went to this thing called Camp Katrina to find free furniture and a couple pulled up with a U-Haul full of stuff which they offered to bring to our house. We ended up with
