In the telephone poll of 1,012 adult Americans carried out Friday through Sunday by Opinion Research Corporation for CNN, only 32 percent of respondents said they approve of Bush's performance, 60 percent said they disapprove and 8 percent said they do not know.

I think there's a limit to how low his popularity can fall with the general population, and I think we've nearly reached it. It may go below 30%, but I'm guessing it doesn't.

There does seem to be a rock-bottom, die-hard, resolutely loyal Republican fan base, but these people have no reason to invest in GWB anymore because he's never gonna be on an election ballot again. They can safely disapprove of GWB while transferring their Republican loyalties to one of the rising (R) stars of 2008.
