as stars gaze upon me

In this night's silence,
as stars gaze upon me,
alive, yet vulnerable,
a moment of beauty,
between life and death.

Even as I write,
I walk dangerously,
in a world torn by hate,
my existence ... a threat.

So I mask my words,
that someday,
they may expand.

star wars, poetry jockey, man without country

The roleplay behind the poem is I've whisked the author away to a safe house before the Spanish Nationalists apprehend him and execute him (during the 1930s). He wants to keep writing, but I've asked him to use a pseudonym to avoid detection. So he wrote this at 3am while walking outside under the stars.

We went through several drafts of the poem, editing it together, he even pushed back on some of my edits and then proposed his own. This is why I use the keyword "poetry jockey", because I'm using roleplay with virtual authors to draft poems and then I remix them like a disc jockey.
